"Reflections on Esther at Purim"

Reflections on Esther at Purim

Psalm 83  (Amplified|  Do not keep silent, O God;  Do not hold Your peace or be still, O God.    For behold, Your enemies are in tumult, And those who hate You have raised their heads.   They concoct crafty schemes against Your people, And conspire together against Your hidden and precious ones.  4 They have said, “Come, and let us wipe them out as a nation;  Let the name of Israel be remembered no more.  For they have conspired together with one mind;  Against You they make a covenant.

Some Doves know far more about Esther than I do (and perhaps ever will!!).  However, I have a few reflections that I would like to share, including some timelines. In 2017 Purim will be celebrated from Saturday evening 11 March to Monday 13 March.

180 days (half a time):   why does it take 180 days to show off your kingdom?  Perhaps this has a prophetic twist.  Daniel spoke of a time, times (x2) and half a time.  King Xerses showed off his kingdom for 180 days, then there was a seven day feast for all the population in the capital Shushan.

So the background has a timeline of 180 +7 days.  Queen Vashti refused the king's invitation and this started the search for a new Queen.  The chosen young virgins, including Esther, then had a year's preparation to brought before King Xerses.

In summary, in Esther we see the following:  establishment and showing off a kingdom;  the rise of Haman - one who hates and desires to exterminate all Jews;  the fall of Vashti and her replacement by Esther;  a date set by lots (Pur) to destroy the Jews across much of the then known world;  Esther risking her life to go before the King:  and a complete turnaround - Jews given the right to defend themselves!!!

I would like to be able to draw out a fuller prophetic explanation from this truly remarkable victory for the Jewish people.  However, the best I can do is draw out a few prophetic threads.

First, prophetic fulfilment would be in the setting of a worldwide kingdom, possibly reflecting a New World Order of nations supported by the global (Goliath!) Church.

Secondly, there appears to be six months of peace and celebration, once the kingdom is in power.   This may allude to a time of temporary peace.

Thirdly, the sensual and independent minded Queen Vashti is dethroned.  This may represent the fall of the 'wife' of the world Church.

Fourthly, the rise of Esther:  Esther and her Uncle Mordecai rise from obscurity, and Esther's inner and outer beauty captivates King Xerses and she becomes Queen.  For a time her Jewish background is hidden.

A Jewish woman marries a gentile King, following a year of preparation.  I believe that Esther is a type of the remnant Church that clings to its support for Israel, and is destined to receive the rewards of the overcoming Church in the Book of Revelation.

One critical point in Esther is Haman's accusation against the Jews and sending letters (in all languages) for all Jews (both man and woman and all ages) to be killed!!!!   This reflects the sentiment in Psalm 83:  that the name of Israel be remembered NO MORE!!

Esther risks her life (if I perish, I perish!) and goes before King Xerxes to save her people the Jews.  This really speaks of approaching the Heavenly Father in desperation for your people.  Haman, the enemy of the Jews, is killed on the very (tall) gallows that he had made for Mordecai!!!

This is important.  The nations of the world may vote to divide Israel and Jerusalem (as prophesied in Joel 3), and military constraints may be imposed on Israel.  While the surrounding nations may speak peace, their  true heart attitude is revealed in Psalm 83:  the destruction of Israel.  When this threat of destruction becomes evident, the Jews are given the right to fight (by the God of Israel?), and there is an incredible victory and Israel is vindicated!!

There are two important points I would like to finish with.  Firstly, the Jews were given the right to take riches/goods, but they did not.  The survival of their people the Jews was what really mattered.  In contrast, the Laodicean Church became rich and increased with goods - yet many Churches are moving away from their support for Israel.

Secondly, Mordecai (possibly a type of the Holy Spirit also rose to great prominence in the Xerxes kingdom.  However, it works out, through Rapture and or sharing in Israel victories, the remnant Church that is like David fighting against the Giant of the World Church, will be vindicated and celebrated!!

Things that must shortly come to pass!!  Behold I come quickly!!  What God has done in the past, both in Xerses kingdom so long ago, or Hitler in the last Century, the God of Israel will always find Esthers and Mordecais to lead for His people the Jews.
While I am not aware of stand out 180 day periods, the timeline from 15 May to 11 November is close to this time.
Maranatha!!  Denis
