I have been reading Five Doves quite faithfully for over a year now, but have not had much to say until now.  I have a background in the military and am a fairly well trained in strategic, operational, and tactical level planning.  I also have a combat tour in Afghanistan.  Enough for street cred anyway.  

Your are most likely correct Iran has Nukes.  They are most likely tactical level nukes however.  Enough to do some damage to Israel but not enough to cripple USA in one blow.  Open source intellegence has Russia all but showing a delivery reciept to N Korea and Iran.  Delivery systems are not yet capable of reaching the contenent of North America.  Unless you consider a Super EMP weapon.  Strange how the media has said that there is no credable threat from nuclear haulocost but never mention EMP devices.  But I digress.  

The recent tests in N Korea were not failures they were wholly consistent with what you would expect from an EMP weapon.  In addition the launch of the satellites from both N Korea and Iran are consistent with a EMP delivery system.  

Now if you take my thesis at face value, the really outside the box scenario would be as follows:  N Korea launches one possibly two Super EMP weapons at the Continental USA.  At least one detonates crippling the infrastructure of the US, the parts of Canada that matter (population centers) and northern Mexico(boarder crossings).    Invoke the three days to anarchy scenario and fore good measure add a healthy dose of drug cartels for hire and Al Qaeda operatives waiting in Mexico for such an event to happen.  (I won't even begin to speculate the threat of "Backpack Nukes"  or short range missiles from container ships off the coast)  

This also leaves the US open for Invasion.  Don't forget folks after an EMP nothing electric will work No one knows how it will effect armed forces equipment in the fall out zone Shielding not withstanding(in other words it might be you and your M4 against a T90, ?? trust me that is bad)  Can any one think of an outside the box reason why the US Gov is stock piling literally tones of ammo in obscure locations??? Besides the FEMA death camp/ civil war scenario            

N Korea launches a full scale offensive against South Korea. Lets face it North Korea is starving there is food and plunder to the south.  

China sees an opportunity to take care of Japan and the US 6th Fleet and does so.  

Russia not wanting US nuclear Subs to launch against them, launches a preemptive strike to neutralize that capability.

Iran in concert closes the straight of Hormuz and targets Israel with Conventional Ballistic missiles in an attempt to ethnically cleanse Israel the old fashion way.  Israel launches operation Sampson and things go from bad to worse.  

The strategic US installations around the world would also be targeted in an attempt to cripple their ability to support operations  in Korea, Israel, the Straight of Hormuz and the Continental US.  It would be a logistical impossibility (speaking from personal knowledge) to support those operations at the best of times.  

So the out of the box scenario is not us hitting them at the same time, it is them hitting the US and Israel at the same time.  Their crazy enough to do it.  We are less likely to do so.
