"Thanks John"
I wanted to thank you for all you done
over the years and posting my posts especially the prayer
request. I know some people don’t like me and I know many times
I get no response from people but by your posting I have a
voice. It isn't easy constantly being on the outside looking in
but at least on the doves I can have my say.
One reason I love to work with kids is they are willing to work
through differences of opinion and the rules of interaction are
so much simpler. Things with them are black and white, true or
false, right or wrong there are no shades of gray no
in-betweens. They are no respecter of persons either. Whether
you are a janitor or the president they treat you the same and
treat the words of each the same as far as correctness and
authority. They ask you to prove things to them and aren’t
afraid to say they think you are wrong. Some times I think when
we become adults especially older adults truth becomes more
fluid and many gray areas start popping up. The proof of our
beliefs become less important than the ferocity of those
beliefs. The children world is so much easier and I much prefer
it to our adult world. Unfortunately the child’s world is one we
must all leave to join this more complex one we find ourselves
in and there is no return to the child's world (“once you pass
it’s borders you can never return again.” from toy land song). I
think part of our, adults, problem is we make things more
complicated we insist there is more meaning to something than
there really is or that things are more complex than they are.
Jesus was right about us becoming as little children their faith
is strong and they see many things as they are.
Maybe the reason adults push aside those whose thinking is more
childlike is because it reminds them of the innocence they once
had and how sometimes it IS the simplest answer that is the
correct one. I have heard people speak of children who have
wisdom beyond their years and wonder is it true or do we lose
some of our wisdom over time and that adults who still see
things in the way a child does have have wisdom below their
years?? Spiritually I think children especially babies and
toddlers are closer to God than any 100 year old pastor could
ever be. I would dare to say even Billy Graham is below the
spiritual level children naturally have. We are closest to God
in the womb and in infancy and we spend the rest of our lives
trying to get back to that level of closeness.
May God bless you greatly for you efforts here and may we all be
home with him soon.
Paul
