Shalom beloved Doves!
I was meditating on the government of God and thought I should share what I was thinking about as it may bless and edify some of you.

First consider the governments of man- what are they based upon? Typically governments of man are based upon the premise of "might makes right" - in other words kings and tyrants command their armies and have the power to kill and make war so thus comes thier power to make the rules! Even those who claim thier appointments are of God (European monarchies) cannot enforce thier claims without might!

Let us now consider momentarily the unique establishment of the United States government, a Constitutional Representative Republic - different because the power does not rest in the hands of one but many.  Where in this government is the "might" that establishes the "right" so to speak? One could argue the might of the U.S. military- but the might is really found in the Second Ammendment to the Constitution - the right for Americans to keep and bear arms.

So then, no ONE person can become a tyrant because the many are armed and called by duty to continue in freedom and not accept a tyranical government.  Also consider this, if you are reading this in a foreign country with a democracy established with the help of the U.S.A or inspired by our government, the Second Ammendment has helped secure your freedoms as well as ours! Because while it guards our freedom here in the U.S. it also has allowed us through the years to endure and be a beacon of freedom, spreading the concept of a government by the people for the people around the world.

However our government will fail eventually and will not continue forever- how do I know this? Because the ONLY government that will endure forever is the GOVERNMENT OF GOD established when He sets up His Kingdom. And rightly so. As much as I hate to see our government fail, the best man has ever acheived, it is inevitable as it is still a man made government and as we watch this government become corrupt attact the very second ammendment set about to defend it and head down a path directed towards tyranny- God's lesson is this: there is no perfect government apart from His own, no matter how free, fair, or well crafted by men- all will eventually become corrupt and fall.

The decline of the United States is as much a preparation for God's government as anything else. Since if man could sucessfully rule himself in peace and prosperity by a man made government what need would there be of God's government?

So now consider my final meditation and be blessed! How is God's government established and executed? Are there any votes? are there any representatives? No - there is only God, His Word to be obeyed or disobeyed and His Son as the Advocate of the justified.  The penalty for disobedience is severe-  destruction and damnation, only abated by the sacrifice and atonement of the Son.

So basically we are back to a "might makes right" government - God is ALMIGHTY so He makes the rules and if you don't follow them (by the way you still must follow at least one command to be saved - believe on the Son!) He has the power to destroy and damn you as His method of enforcement!

So does this make God some sort of a divine tyrant and His government just another form of tyrrany? Here is where if you have stuck with me thus far the Holy Spirit is going to bless you!

An earthly tyrant derives his "right" (ability to rule) from his "might" (ability to destroy& make war) But it is not so with our heavenly Father!
I think He gave us the story of Samson to help understand! Where did Samson get his strength from? Not his hair! His hair was just a symbol of his RIGHT standing with God! And as long as he was right, he had might! As soon as Delilah cut his hair he lost his "right" standing, which caused him to lose his might! God gave us this story to show us that His right to rule does not come from his might to destroy! It is the other way around! His MIGHT comes from His RIGHT!

God is MIGHTY because He is first ultimately RIGHTEOUS! He will enforce His kingdom in might (He shall rule the nations with a rod of iron) but His might and power comes from His ultimate righteousness!  This should give every believer a cause to rejoice to know that our God's kingdom is not a tyranny where He will rule us by our fear of Him - but contrary we will be ruled perfectly in perfect obedience to Him because of our TRUST in Him and our knowledge of His ULTIMATE RIGHTEOUSNESS that gives Him such MIGHT!
