I
think someone has given you
some incorrect information.
on page
14: Water, not being anywhere near as thick and
heavy as oil,
The
specific gravity of these crude oils is a little over
0.9, but less than 1.0, which means that
the oil is actually lighter than the water.
Water is heavier than
oil, even these crude oils.
There
are some oils with a specific gravity greater than
1.0, but not these crude oils.
Specific gravity is
defined as the ratio of the density of a material to
the density of water.
Therefore
the specific gravity of water is 1.0.
Things
with specific gravity less than 1 float on water,
and those greater than 1 sink.
on page 19: 8. Once the oxygen to gas
ratio reaches fourteen percent, the "mix" in this part
of the reserve becomes volatile, and subject to
exploding if and when it is ever ignited. A mix of twenty
one percent oxygen to gas ratio causes that
particular gas chamber to become a genuine fully loaded
bomb of a magnitude that even most scientists cannot
imagine, that is just waiting to be ignited.
The LEL and UEL of
natural gas are about 5% and 15% in air, respectively.
LEL is
the Lower Explosive Level and UEL is the Upper
Explosive Level.
However,
air is only 21% oxygen & 79% nitrogen.
The
ratio of nitrogen to oxygen would remain in the
presence of another gas.
Therefore
at that 5% LEL, there would be 75% nitrogen and 20%
oxygen.
At the
15% UEL would be 67% nitrogen and 18% oxygen.
However,
as written, a 21:1 ratio of oxygen to gas would be
well below the LEL and definitely not explosive.
And a
ratio of oxygen to gas greater than 21 times would
even be farther below the LEL.
Who ever gave you that
information, gave it to you incorrectly.

that the nice scientists (engineers) working for The
Big Gas Companies thought it best to set the The LEL and UEL of natural gas’s critical
explosion thresholds based on ‘Earth’s Air’ at sea
level STP
[supposing, I guess, that otherwise Air heads would
not understand]; therefore your astute calculations
are not required, and The LEL and UEL percentages remain and are
about 5% and 15% ‘in air’,
respectively. [Did you
notice the ‘in air’ rhymes with Adair!]
