jfh and Ted Porter Daniel’s weeks
I wrote this a couple of days ago, so I am a bit delayed in replying…
You have both shown well the thoughts regarding the Daniel timing of weeks. I was hoping to “get out of it”, thanks!
Ted’s question of “Messiah” timing is interesting. I believe there are four different periods in Jesus’ earthly life that are defining. First, His birth was marked by many signs. It is likely Daniel’s own teaching led the Maji to recognizing the heavenly signs, then pursuing the baby Jesus to acknowledge His kingship. Second, His post-bar mitzvah visit to the temple to engage the priests. This would be when he stayed behind after his family started to return home. This timing closely marks 2000 years to now as the end of the age. Third, His baptism was the official beginning of His public ministry. Fourth, His death and resurrection was the last physical event of His first coming.
Also, interesting is the count of “times” in Revelation. I have noticed that myself and wondered about the accuracy out of the Greek.
