Thanks Patti for that excellent part one study. I have always believed the sons of God were Seth's descendants- otherwise why call them with an honorable name- "Sons of God". The daughters I've thought probably descendants of Cain - who was a murderer and the Lord called him the son of the devil. Some of these sons of God it seems married Caananite women and then fell into apostasy.
However it's an account of the multiplication of humans and an explanation as to why mankind became so evil that God brought the flood. As far as I see it- it has no huge bearing on today's times- but rather an account of events leading up to the purification of Earth. We know Noah walked with God and was a direct descendent of Seth. So he was a "son of God"...but had not fallen into apostasy.
