Dear John and Doves,Blessings to you!Thank you, John for all you do to encourage the Body of Christ via this forum.Be encouraged! The Lord WONT be late coming for His Bride! Maranatha! We walk every day in Victory because we are IN Christ Jesus. Nothingcan separate us from the love of God in His precious Son, Yeshua! The devil is out to "sift" each and every one of us to try and MAKE us TURN AWAY and give up in thisperilous, (rageingly insane) time! But Christ is with us working IN us to persevere. Rely on HIS strength IN you, NOT your strength! Strength comes from PRAYER and diligent readingthe Lamb's Book of Life, the Bible! If it isn't precious to our soul, now, we can't stand againstthe wiles of the devil, TODAY, and TOMORROW. There's no way.I pray for each and every one of you that are facing real difficulties and trials of the worst kind.I know what it is to be at death's door. I was robbed and assaulted once, thrown to theground and left for dead. But God helped and rescued me.Physical sickness laid me near death several times, but God saw fit to raise me up. He sawfit to give me His trust and reliance on HIM during all my afflictions. It's ALL of Christ, nothing inus is WORTHY of the LEAST of HIS favors!I was blessed to have been a missionary in Jamaica and while in the "bush" country, hadlittle children come up to me and touch my arm because they hadn't seen someone differentlike me so near them. But you know what, those blessed Jamacians, that loved the Lord, even in extreme poverty, knewMORE about the Lord and worship than MANY in our affluent churches today!Continue to bless them with the nearness of your Presence, dear Lord!Trials of hardship and afflictions ARE coming to the Body of Christ in a greater measure, here, unless the Lord comes to take us out.So, Be strengthened in HIS might by the indwelling Christ, via His Holy Wonderful Spirit! (J.C. Ryle, "The Fight!")
True sanctification does not consist in retirement from our place in life, and the renunciation of our social duties. In every age it has been a snare with many, to take up this line in the pursuit of holiness. Hundreds of hermits have buried themselves in some wilderness, and thousands of men and women have shut themselves up within the walls of monasteries and convents--under the vain idea that by so doing, they would escape sin and become eminently holy.
They have forgotten that no bolts and bars can keep out the devil; and that, wherever we go,we carry that root of all evil our own hearts!
True holiness does not make a Christian evade difficulties--but face and overcome them. Christ would have His people show that His grace is not a mere hot-house plant, which can only thrive under shelter--but a strong, hardy thing which can flourish in every relation of life. It is doing our duty, in that state to which God has called us--like salt in the midst of corruption, and light in the midst of darkness--which is a primary element in sanctification.
It is not the man who hides himself in a cave--but the man who glorifies God in the family and in the street, in business and in trade--who is the Scriptural type of a sanctified man.
