"May our hearts, minds and spirits be filled to overflowing with joy and laughter.  Here's one way."

I loved the message of this video.  Thank you to whoever sent it.  Put into Search: "Urgent:  From the Lord:  Sing the Ascension Psalms"  from neartochrist2.  I hope you'll review it, or watch it  if you haven't.  I was inspired by that directive from the Lord to go get out my old 1887 Presbyterian Psalter. Then I went to find my tambourine!  I read the words, letting their rhythm and timing settle in, then I walked and walked through the house just making up the melody, or using a tune from another hymn familiar to us, and tapping my tambourine.  There are so many Scriptures commanding us to sing to him a new song, to praise him with the tambourine as well as other instruments.  We neglect obeying this to our own great lack. When we are discouraged, oppressed or fearful, it's amazing how the jingling of those little metal pieces cut right through any oppression, and cause our spirits to begin to rise. ("Let God arise, and his enemies be scattered.")  God, himself, told us to honor him with the tambourine and the dance and the clapping of hands, and with the voice of praise.  "With the high praise of God in my mouth, and a two-edged sword (Scripture) in my hand,  I will march right up on the victory side, right into Caanan land!"  I would like to share with you the Ascension Psalms from the Psalter, as they were so long ago set to rhyme and tune for the very purpose of singing.  And I hope you'll find the happiness of getting out your tambourine :) as we truly are "Marching to Zion, the Beautiful City of God."

ASCENSION PSALM 121 c.m.

1.  I to the hills will lift mine eyes.
From whence doth come mine aid?
My safety cometh from the Lord,
Who heav'n and earth hath made.

2.  Thy foot he'll not let slide, nor will
He slumber that thee keeps.
Behold, he that keeps Israel,
He slumbers not, nor sleeps.

3.  The Lord thee keeps, the Lord thy shade
On thy right hand doth stay.
The moon by night thee shall not smite,
Nor yet the sun by day.

4.  The Lord shall keep thy soul.  He shall
Preserve thee from all ill.
Henceforth thy going out and in
God keep forever will.

ASCENSION PSALM 121  7s.D.

1.  To the hills I'll lift mine eyes,
Whence my hopes of succor rise.
From the Lord comes all my aid,
Who the earth and heav'n hath made.

2.  He will ever be thy guide,
And thy foot shall never slide.
God his Israel that keeps,
Never slumbers, never sleeps.

3.  God thy keeper still shall stand,
As a shade on thy right hand.
Neither sun by day shall smite,
Nor the silent moon by night.

4.  God shall guard from every ill,
Keep thy soul in safety still.
Both without and in thy door,
He will keep thee evermore.
