""Awake and Sing" in
Isaiah 26"
I was feeling pretty bad, depressed, spastic,
discouraged about things I should decide. I decided to
seek the Lord's word in the Bible as to what was coming next,
hoping to be encouraged. I opened the Bible to Isaiah 26,
the "awake and sing" chapter which is like a psalm at the end.
In Isaiah 26, terrible things are predicted to be coming to the
world, but those who are the Lord's are told
"Your dead shall live; together with my dead body they shall
arise.
Awake and sing, you who dwell in dust;
For your dew is like the dew of herbs,
And the earth shall cast out the dead."
Isaiah 26:19
Then Isaiah in the same chapter, says "Come , my people, enter
your chambers,
And shut your doors behind you;
Hide yourself, as it were, for a little moment
Until the indignation is past.
For behold the Lord comes out of His place
To punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity;
the earth will also disclose her blood,
and will no more cover her slain."
Isaiah 26:20
In addition to personal problems I have been very bothered by
the controversy of whether or not it is God's will to go to war
against Iran,
either as a nation or as a helper to another nation. My
son believes it is not right, and worries about his young sons,
7 and 9, who might
have to go to war if we go into another long war, or keep
warring. And yet I know war is predicted, among other
"indignation". Should we
be responsible for starting it? Should we turn the other
cheek? Should we fight? I do not know, and it's all
part of the rhetoric being
delivered at this time by candidates for the U.S. Presidency,
both pro and con. It is a terrifying thing to know we are
personally involved,
by how we vote. So we must seek the Lord in this....and he
says "Come, my people, enter your chambers, and shut your doors
behind you...
until the indignation is past."
Hoping we can get it right. Isaiah was a great prophet, so
close to the Lord! Awake and Sing!
