"Thanks, Donna Danna, for Sudan article"

Yes, we must offer prayers for the Sudanese Christians!

News of the atrocities in Sudan does reach us fitfully on MSM, but is overshadowed by other news.

Southern Sudan became an independent country a few years ago, and most of its citizens are Christian, but they have ongoing problems.  The worst is drought, which will make the crops fail, just at a time when refugees from Northern Sudan may arrive.

Northern Sudan is in a state of heavy war, with the  central government attacking the "rebels" who are "holed up" in the mountains along the border between Sudan and Southern Sudan.  The central government forces of Northern Sudan are Muslim and Arab, and wish to destroy the Christians, who tend to have more "black" people among them than Arabs.  The rockets hurled at the people holed up in the border mountains often hit civilians as well as "rebel" fighters.  The actor George Clooney has made a movie showing the terrible wounds of the people in this area, which was shown on Fox News Sunday last week.  Chris Wallace, moderator of Fox News Sunday, said that were it not for famous people like George Clooney publicizing the Sudan massacre, we would probably not be shown these pictures.  George Clooney just went to jail for picketing the Sudanese Embassy in America, along with his father Nick Clooney, who is a journalist.

Clooney showed how the people who have fled to the mountains on the border could not plant crops this year, and hence will starve.  They are people who have farmed and been self sufficient, but now will be dependent on aid.  What a tragedy that these self-sufficient people should be reduced to helpless starvation, as well as bombardment!  A hundred thousand people are in this plight.

This article which you linked, Donna, describes the difficulty of the families of this area in leaving to go to Southern Sudan.  And if they do reach Southern Sudan, they will be faced by drought and hunger.

The new government of Southern Sudan has stated its solidarity with Israel.  They are thus like Christians in America who support Israel.  We should support them.

I have no idea how we can contribute to help for the hungry Sudanese remnant, but I want to find out.

Thank you, Donna.  Blessings from another lonely widow.
