""Do not sit under a false teacher" by Paul McGuire"

K Rajan posted an article about "siting under a false teacher", which stated that if you are aligned with a false pastor you will share his condemnation.

For some of us, it is impossible to find locally a perfectly authentic Bible believing pastor.  We have no one to "sit under".

I have made do with my local Episcopal parish, which does believe the basics of the Bible as taught in the Nicene Creed.  However, lately I see signs that
this orthodoxy might evaporate, under the guidance of a new vestry promoting reading of troublesome books.  I am not sure this will happen, this apostasy,
but I am sure the parish does NOT warn of the imminence of Christ's coming, and one associate pastor even ridicules those who believe in a rapture soon, or a Second Coming in less than "hundreds of years".  Prophecy is not taught except for incidental readings of familiar passages such as Micah's prediction of the Messiah being born in Bethlehem.

The Catholic priest in my town gave a more authentic "salvation by faith alone" sermon than any I have heard in a Protestant Church here.  Yet, we know the hierarchy of the Catholic Church has problems--need not elaborate as this has been thoroughly explained.

There are some "Bible churches" here, such as Calvary Chapel, and I may start going there.  I am just not certain that I believe all interpretations of the Bible given by that pastor.  It's confusing.

Thus, I would say I am not "sitting under" anyone.  And I do not think most locales provide perfect Bible teaching.  The best I have heard was in North Coast Calvary Chapel in Carlsbad CA and at a Catholic parish near there, in Encinitas.  I don't live there now.   I wish I did, earthquake and all, but I probably can't move.

Most of us, bottom line, get our Bible study truths from a variety of sources, including tapes (such as Missler's) and on-line ministries such as Five Doves and A and O Report, and videos sent out by various ministries such as Larry Taylor's.  We don't sit under any one pastor except Jesus, and we hope to piece together an understanding of what He teaches in this way.

We must rely on His mercy, for perfection of understanding may not be found until He comes.
