Dear Friends,
Let us not forget that we are now
a) living in enemy territory and
b) the prince of this world, Satan, wants us dead.
1 John 5:19 says our entire world is in the power of the evil one: “And we know we of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.” “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” 1 John 2:16 “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” 1 John 2:15
John 14:30 notes Satan is the ruler of this world: “Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and he hath nothing in me.”He knows that God has crowned man with honor and glory and will soon give us dominion over all of all things, both on earth and throughout the entire universe. “And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.” Rev. 5:10 “And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be the glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.” Rev. 1:6
Psalms 8:5-6 “For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:”
We tend to either forget or minimize the glory and power Satan once possessed. Understandably, Satan is angry that he has been stopped in his desire to be the omnipotent ruler of the entire creation, and must soon be deprived of even his rulership of this planet. “But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.” Daniel 7:18
Clearly, the only thing Satan has left now and for a short time is rulership over this temporary planet filled with dying creatures, dying men, and dying plant life. Death rules over us. It's even possible that it is Satan himself who tampered with the DNA of life to produce all of the death and decay we see around us. Hebrews 2:14 says he holds the "power of death" over us.
Hebrews 2:14-15 “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of the flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same: that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.”
Yes, Satan knows that Jesus conquered death and that "God has already won the game." But, he wants to make our lives as miserable as possible before our future glory comes to pass. He wants to destroy us and prevent God from making us the new ruler of the planet and the universe seated together with Jesus and the Father by our obedience to His Word and commandments. “To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.” Rev. 3:21
Let us each day remember to say a prayer of thanksgiving to our Father, His Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit that dwells already in us since our rebirth. And let us seek His guidance in our daily walk. “Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.” Psalms 25:4-5 “But be not thou far from me, O Lord: O my strength, haste to help me…I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation, will I praise thee.” Psalms 22:19,22
“The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished.” 2 Peter 2:9 “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed, for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10
We need to send these words form our heart out into this earth so that Satan will be daily reminded that we have a strength through Christ that cannot be defeated. “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13
With love,
Robert
