"An Excellent Sermon
by David Jeremiah.....on saved by GRACE....then why do
works matter? Good answer"
Thursday, I taped this wonderful
message...and have transcribed some of the most important parts
below.
You can get the entire 12 sermons on CD...for a gift of ANY
amount. Google: David Jeremiah....Turning Point
ministries.
I wanted to share this with anyone who struggles to understand
this..... Read..enjoy....and learn....
BTW.....the Title of this sermon series is:
WHAT WE SHOULD BE DOING, IN LIGHT OF THE FACT THAT THE RAPTURE
IS SO NEAR. (rom memory....something like this!)
From the sermon: (I was moving fast this morning when I
transcribed this...I hope I did it justice...)
QUOTE:
Jesus Christ paid for how many of our sins? All of them.
Collossians 2:13 (Read this) He died to
forgive all of our sins. Past present and future.
I had a lady come to me once and say “I know God took care
of all of my sins before I was saved. But don’t I have to
take care of all the ones since I was saved?”
And I asked her what I have asked many since: How many of
your sins were in the future when Christ died? She said:
"Hmmmmm……..All of them."
He forgave all of them before you ever lived. Because of
what happened on the cross, when you trusted Christ that kicked
in. And you were forgiven and are forgiven today, and you
will never have to face your sin again. That means God has
no charges against you, that He will ever level against you for
your sin.
Romans: There is therefore
now, no charges against those who are in Christ Jesus.
Romans 8:31: Who shall bring a charge against God’s
elevct…..read the whole verse….
For it is GOD that justifies. When you were saved, you
were truly forgiven. And you will never ever have to face your
sin again. You say “what about if I sin as a Christian?”
If you sin, you break your fellowship with God and you have to
go back and get that fellowship straigtned out…it’s a
relaltional thing…..but you will never have to face punishment
for your sins again. That’s the point of this passage.
One of the most often asked questions is this: How can
someone have all of his sins forgiven and have to have his works
reviewed at the judgement seat of Christ?
If my sins are all forgiven, why do I have to go before the
judgment seat of Christ? Well, the answer is found
in the fact that forgiveness is about justification and the
rewards are about the works that a justified person does. So
these works are NOT done in order to BE justified….these are the
works someone does because they ARE justified! (Becuase
they want to do them....!! )
Read the verse again: For by grace you have been
saved through faith, it is a gift from God, not of works, lest
anyone could boast. For we His workmanship which God prepared
before Him, that we should walk in them.
We are not saved BY good works…..we are saved FOR the purpose OF
good works.
He saved us for a purpose…..if He had no purpose for us after He
had saved us, He would take us right to heaven and spare
us all a lot of misery! But He saved us for good works.
So at the Judgment Seat of Christ, we are going to stand before
God just after the Rapture…we are saved now….we are
Christians………and we are going to stand before the Lord, and He’s
going to do a little review of how we lived a Christian life.
How we lived the Christian life has NOTHING to do with whether
or not we are going to get to heaven.
In fact it says in I Corinthians, CH 3: “if our works
don’t pass muster, we are going to be saved, though at thy
fire.” What does this mean? You ‘re not going to
lose your salvation, but you are going to lose your rewards……
MY COMMENTS: David said 2 things I have always
thought of myself:
1) It did occur to me a few years ago...."since all of my sins
were in the FUTURE when Christ died on the cross for ALL of my
sins.....then ALL OF MY SINS.....FOR ALL OF MY LIFE......WERE
FORGIVEN....once I accepted Christ as my Savior......and He
became MY substitute for ALL of my sins...for ALL of my
life!!!" How incredibly wonderful to fully
understand.....and David said this same thing in his sermon!!!
and
2) I first asked a friend in 1999......"Why is sin so
bad? My answer.....because sin seperates us from
God. When we sin......we do what? We PULL AWAY FROM
GOD.....HE doesn't go any where...but WE tend to pull
away. As when Adam and Eve HID in the garden after they
had eaten of the tree." I have thought, for many
years, that my sin as a Christian is bad because I turn away
from God....becuase I am ashamed.....and I HAVE TO TURN BACK TO
HIM to fix my relationship with him. EXACTLY what
David said in this sermon!!
I am not the brightest theologian out there....but I think I got
these 2 points right.....and knowing THAT.....makes my life as a
Christian more wonderful.....every day.
I hope this message was as good for you as it was for me.

RAndy !! :) :) :)
