"Re: Zechariah 13 already history! [Good News]"

Hi:

It doesn’t sound like 70 AD to me.

Zec 12:10 says, “And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.”

When they “look upon me whom they have pierced”, it sounds like when the Sign of the Son of man is seen in the sky on the Day of God’s Wrath.

Zec 13:6-9 says, “And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he (i.e., Jesus) shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends. :7  Awake, O sword (i.e., Sword of the Lord on the Day of God’s Wrath), against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts (Jesus, Isa 44:6, quoted below): smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones. 8  And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. 9  And I will bring the third part through the fire (the mountain-sized asteroid of Rev 8:8 will impact the Mediterranean Sea), and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God. “

Zec 14:1-3 says, “ Behold, the day of the LORD (that is also the Day of God’s Wrath) cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. 2  For I will gather all nations (i.e., not just Rome) against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. 3  Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.”

I think the “day of battle” was Joshua’s Long Day, and is mentioned here because the Day of God’s Wrath will be Jesus’ Long Day. When the two asteroids of Rev 8:8-11 impact Earth, this globe will be turned upside down, causing a long day.

Jos 10:8-14 says, “And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee. 9  Joshua therefore came unto them suddenly, and went up from Gilgal all night. 10  And the LORD discomfited them before Israel, and slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them along the way that goeth up to Bethhoron, and smote them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah. 11  And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Bethhoron, that the LORD CAST DOWN GREAT STONES FROM HEAVEN UPON THEM unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword. 12  Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. 13  And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day. 14  And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.“

On the Day of God’s Wrath, the LORD (i.e., Joshua from the Hebrew and Jesus from the Greek) will fight for Israel. He doesn’t listen to the voice of a man, it is the Day of God’s Wrath.

Isa 44:6 says, “Thus saith the LORD (YHWH) the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD (YHWH) of hosts; I am the first (YHWH king of Israel), and I am the last (YHWH of hosts the Redeemer, Jesus Christ)); and beside me there is no God.”

Subject: Zechariah 13 already history! [Good News]

Dear John and Doves,

We are have been rapidly approaching the second phase of the Prelude to Christ's Return since 1967.
Some expect the final 1260 day span to begin as soon as April 11th, 2012!

One important thing I learned today was the fulfillment of Zechariah chapter 13 (occurred in the past).

Based on a reply I received to a question posted to a friend and biblical scholar, Eve Engelbrite.

"This was my reply to Dave a last year on Zech. 13".

Zechariah 13 pertains to Messiah's first coming as our Good Shepherd who laid down His life for His sheep in 30 AD, and I think verses 8-9 were fufilled in 70 AD.
Zechariah 13:7b-9 “. . . smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn my hand on the little ones. 8 And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, said the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. 9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.”

Josephus was a historian and eye-witness to the siege of Jerusalem. Because Titus laid siege at the feast of unleavened bread (to which it was mandatory that adult males attend) there were close to three million people trapped inside Jerusalem.

Based upon the number of sacrifices recorded, there were “. . . two millions seven hundred thousand and two hundred persons that were pure and holy; for as to those that have the leprosy, or the gonorrhea, or women that have their monthly courses, or such as are otherwise polluted, it is not lawful for them to be partakers of this sacrifice; nor indeed for any foreigners neither, who come hither to worship.” (The War of the Jews, book IV, chapter 9.3)

Because the city was not built for sewage and water for 3 million, roughly one million people died of plagues before the troops of Titus breached the walls and climbed over piles of dead bodies to slay those yet armed with strength to fight. Josephus estimated 1,100,000 died and 97,000 were taken into slavery with some being sent to work mines in
Egypt. To me that's two-thirds dead and one-third taken captive. Josephus concluded, “the multitude of those that therein perished exceeded all the destructions that either men or God ever brought upon the world.” (The War of the Jews, book IV, chapter 9.3) God had “finish[ed] the transgression”. [end quote, Eve]

This fact is also corroborated by Ray Schulz in his excellent updated paper, The Double reference prophecy of Daniel, http://ourpropheticbible.org/downloads/WEEKS.pdf

and others such as Ted Porter

So therefore there remains only one final abomination of desolation for the nation Israel in their future and not the bleak outcome of Zech. 13 once done unto them.

But our future is quickly approaching.

best regards,

Tom Tanner
