"QUESTIONS FOR JOHN B. ABOUT WHO THE BEAST'S #666 IN REV. 13 REFERS TO"

I have a few questions in regard to your 3/07 post at http://www.fivedoves.com/letters/march2012/johnb37.htm in which you started the following:

"16/17...He (second beast) causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the (first) beast, or the number of his (first beast) name.
18..Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the (second beast) beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666."

Who did the tribulation saints in Rev. 15:2 get the victory over and over the number of his name?  The first beast or the second beast?  They got the victory over the first beast, over his image, over his mark and over the number of his name.   Please read the verse below:

Rev. 15:2  "And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, [and] over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God."

The saints got the victory over the first beast described in Rev. 13:16-17, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name.  So why would the Lord give us the number of the second beast in Rev. 13:18 as you imply if the saints are to get the victory over the first beast, and over his image, and over the number of his name?  I would think the Lord would want the saints to know the number of the first beast to identify who the first beast is so that they don't worship him or his image nor take his mark in the right hand or in the forehead in order to buy or sell.   I don't see why they would need to know the number of the name of the second beast (false prophet) because they don't get the victory over the number of his name.
