Chance,On the same day that there was a letter I wrote, asking if Christians could possibly perish in a judgment upon the US, you had a letter speaking about the subject. But just like Sodom and Gomorrah, God sees the wickedness. God will remove the righteous and not 'sweep them away with the wicked in the coming punishment'. Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed with fire - "dense smoke was rising from the land, like smoke from a furnace." Genesis 19:28 Mystery Babylon with her spiritual corruption and moral decay, like Sodom, will be destroyed by fire. Her many sins involve not only trade items such as wine and oil but 'slaves and souls of men.' Revelation 18:13Like Lot and his family brought out of Sodom, God will again remove the righteous before destruction - the stink of the land is ripe for a biblical cleansing.
The timing of reading your letter was amazing, considering that I had only mailed my letter to John, less than 12 hours earlier.I had always considered the account of Lot as similar to the upcoming blessed hope.
I have also wondered if it does not necessarily picture what happens at every destructive event:For example, were there not a number of Christians killed in the Maui fire? Were there any Christians living in, or vacationing in, the areas hit by the 2004 Tsunami? Was everyone living in Dresden a vicious nazi, or were there any Christians living there, when it was firebombed, and over 20,000 people were killed? Were there a number of Christians in Europe, which were persecuted by the catholic church, but who also died in the black death plague, along with everyone else? Were there any Christians living in Pompeii, near Naples, when Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD?
