UFOs
and the Christian Worldview by Jefferson Scott/Jeff Gerke
The first line in
this "Christian Worldview" article is "Most Christians
don't think about UFOs."
I certainly don't
remember a single sermon or Sunday School class on UFOS
when I was growing up. Even as an adult - I can't
recall a single sermon devoted to the topic.
I grew up in New
Mexico - a real hot spot for UFO activity and
aliens. In fact, a UFO crashed in Aztec - not far
from my home. That was a big deal for a while.
And then there was a 'landing' in Albuquerque in the
foothills in 1978, I believe. That was a big
deal. And the tram up to Sandia Peak was built to
observe UFO activity in the Albuquerque area. Of
course, there was the Roswell crash. And when I was
a kid, my father pointed out two UFOs high up in the sky -
Dad was a pilot - and he explained to us kids about G
forces and how no human could be piloting these. UFO
activity was not unusual in my state. Many people
saw them.
But the Christian
world doesn't think about UFOS - or, more probably,
doesn't want to deal with UFOs/aliens.
UFOs and aliens
don't fit their 'world' view or their 'religious'
view. That just leaves the congregants trying to
come up with something on their own. And with all the
government interest in UFOs over the last two years - it's
getting harder and harder to ignore this topic.
How long before
preachers start preaching on this?
The authors of the
article bring up the End Times and the coming deception -
if aliens show up, then what? What are Christians to
think and do? If preachers had covered this topic,
then they'd know. In case they don't, this article
will clear things up. When these aliens show up,
they wrote "these "aliens" will "declare Christianity
false, and not only false, but dangerous...". And
Believers will be "persecuted beyond belief".
I remember years
ago attending a Prophecy In The News mini-conference in
Denver, Colorado. JR Church and his wife, Linda,
were there. But Gary Stearman was not at this
particular meeting. Somehow the topic of UFOs came
up and Linda Church commented to me that she didn't care
for the teachings on this topic, specifically what Gary
talked about. I knew, at the time, that Gary had had
a UFO encounter when he was piloting his plane to Texas -
and he was a big believer that there was something out
there. She, however, did not want anything to do
with it. No teaching on the alien/UFO topic!
After JR Church
went to Heaven, March 22, 2012, Gary Stearman 'branched
off' to start Prophecy Watchers. I 'branched off'
with him as I'm very much interested in UFOs/aliens.
And to this day, he and many of his guests continue to
talk about UFOs/aliens.
It's a topic that
should be preached on and openly discussed - these
'entities' can't be denied any longer. And the
longer the Church ignores the topic, the more people are
going to come up with their own views and they may end up
believing a big delusion/lie.
Many Believers
think the Rapture will be explained with a 'Great UFO
Abduction' event. THEY, the minions of satan, will
have to come up with some explanation that doesn't damn
them.
The author wrote,
"And if I'm right, then the End Times will have an
unexpectedly extraterrestrial flavor to them."
It should be a
topic in every day conversation, imo.
