I think David's rule as King was a type possibly anticipating our departure. His rule was split --- 7 years 6 months in Hebron ( meaning "joined") and then 33 years in Jerusalem. The 33 years points to Judah (the Jewish remnant) being added.
.2 Samuel 5:5 In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah.
Interesting also is the meaning of "Hebron" , linked to the cave burial site and its connection to the womb, a place of birth.
Hebrew: עברים ʿivrim Possibly derives from a verb meaning "to pass over" or "to traverse". It is likely derived from Eber, Shem's great-grandson, and six generations above Abraham. Hebron: חֶבְרוֹן hevron Derives from a root meaning "colleague" or "friend".
