(The children of Israel are to know the difference between the holy [set apart, dedicated] and the profane [common]:)
Ezekiel 44:23 And they shall teach my people the difference between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean.
20 He measured it by the four sides: it had a wall round about, five hundred reeds long, and five hundred broad, to make a separation between the sanctuary and the profane place.
(Those lines in Ezekiel are for a time yet future for them, especially since, collectively, they have had a difficult time, in the past, with this. They were allowed to keep 90% as common, for whatever they wanted, but 10%, the tithe, was to be dedicated. They were allowed six days of the week as common, for whatever they wanted, but one day was to be set apart, i.e. holy, for the LORD.)
(In the sermon on the mount, Jesus referred to what things had been under the law, but then showed that it was far more than what is seen on the surface:)
Matthew 5:27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
(Paul showed, that everything for the Christian, ought to be for the Lord, not simply 10%, or only one day of the week:)
Colossians 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
I Corinthians 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
(We should no longer consider that 90% of what have, or make, is profane, but rather we should consider all 100% as holy.
So, whether we feed our family with some, or save some of it for our children, or enjoy part of it, or give part of it to our church, it should all be, "in the name of the Lord Jesus".)
Acts 10:15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
Romans 14:14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.
Titus 1:15a Unto the pure all things are pure:
(Similarly, we should no longer consider that six days of the week are for us, and that only one day is to be holy for the LORD, but rather we should consider all seven days to be holy.
To think that six days of the week are "not holy", shouldn't be a Christian way of thinking.
That kind of thinking has caused so many of us to fall so easily to temptation, on those days that are supposedly "not holy".
Whether we go to the park with our family on a day off, or we go to our jobs on our scheduled days, or we go to church three times in the week, each of those days should be holy to the Lord.
We should do all those different things the same way, "as to the Lord", and, "in the name of the Lord Jesus".
Otherwise, again, when we forget that even going to our jobs is part of our ministry for the Lord, we forget to witness, or fall more easily into sin.)
(We are to be in a totally different mindset than Israel under the law.)
