In the link is a timeline of the Holocaust. I have tried every search term I can think of to attempt to make sense of the 7 year long Holocaust. It was an horrific time of torture, imprisonment, families torn apart, brutal medical experiments, gas chambers etc. The list goes on. It ended in the death of 6 million Jewish people. I know other ethnicities died but I am focusing on the Jewish people here. It nags away at me like a loose tooth. I can't stop shoving the idea of it around my head. Although the Bible mentions nothing about it________________________________________________________________________

Hi Fay,

It may not be apparent to everyone who reads the Bible and searches its pages diligently, but information about the perpetrator of the Holocaust, and the time-frame for the Holocaust, is symbolised in Daniel chapter 7—via the little horn that came up among 10 horns from the ‘dreadful and terrible’ 4th Beast Empire (Rome).

I began researching this subject in 2005, and put many articles on Five Doves until about 2014. I see from my records that I posted bite-sized chapters of my book called ‘The Little Horn of Daniel’s 4th Empire and the Kingdom of the Jews’ to Five Doves, on 5–12 October 2010.  I don’t know if those files are still retrievable or not, but I’m happy to put a revised (August 2021) digital copy on Five Doves for interested readers .

First and foremost, Daniel was the ‘blessed’ recipient of God’s long-term revelation regarding future events— specifically those affecting  the people of Judah (Jews). The time-line in Daniel 7 extends from:

Babylon’s supremacy (606 BC), through Media-Persia, Macedon-Greece and the Roman Empire’s appearance as ‘the dreadful and terrible, exceedingly strong beast’ mentioned in Daniel 7:7–28, to well beyond part two of the Jewish Dispersion (Diaspora) following their expulsion from Jerusalem by the Roman Emperor Hadrian in AD 132 (which event had been foretold in Micah 3:12, seven centuries earlier).  At that time, Jerusalem was ploughed over, and a Roman city Aelia Capitolina was built over Jerusalem’s ruins.  The Jews did not return as a Nation until after the Holocaust!  It was a critical factor in the United Nations granting authority (in November 1947), for them to inhabit their former homeland! As Daniel 7:11, 26–27 predicted, it was only after the last manifestation of the 4th Beast (i.e. Nazi 3rd Reich) and its ‘little horn’ were destroyed, that Israel became a Nation again in 1948.

(Thus Daniel’s symbolic revelations cover 25 centuries of history, and I expect there is more to come before all of his prophecies are fulfilled, and we are privileged to receive a true understanding of them, cf. Dan. 2:34–35, 44b)

One of the trickiest research problems I faced was to identify the 10 horns on the 4th Beast’ (Roman Empire, described in Dan. 7:7–8, 20, 24). First clue, I needed to understand the historical ramifications of Daniel’s earlier dream in chapter 2—where the ‘fourth empire’ (Rome) is described as comprising  two legs of iron on the metallic-man statue—and incorporate that into my thinking! I finally concluded that Rome’s two divided legs (Daniel 2:33, 41–42) symbolised two distinct and separate polities that split the Roman Empire completely in half, which determined their vastly different futures, both in history and as portrayed in Daniel’s other visions.

Second clue: I concluded that ‘the clay’ that weakened the latter stage (feet and toes) on both of the statue’s legs, which ‘mingled with the seed of men’ but did not adhere (Dan. 2:42–43)—symbolised the ‘foreign forces and outside influences’ that invaded/infiltrated both parts of the divided Roman Empire (i.e., the Western Roman Empire based in Italy, and eastern ‘New Rome’ based in Constantinople).  Having established this premise, I found that the Western Roman Empire was invaded by Germanic tribes (clay) who came from North of the Rhine (beyond the Roman Empire’s iron border). This subsequently caused the Western Roman Empire to fall in AD 476, and eventually fragment into numerous feudal kingdoms and principalities (horns)! Meantime, eastern ‘New Rome’ (Constantinople/Byzantine Empire) survived for another 1,000 years, until it too was weakened and its territory whittled away after attacks by the 4th Crusade in 1204, and invasions by other foreign (clay) forces, until the Capital Constantinople eventually fell to Islam in 1453.

Another clue:  Daniel 7:23 says the 4th Beast (Rome) shall devour the whole earth, trample it and break it into pieces… prior to the appearance of the 10 horns in Dan. 7:24!  The nations that devoured the whole earth and broke it into pieces (i.e., colonies they exploited), were the multiple exploratory and seafaring European nations that emerged from the Western Roman Empire during the age of colonialism. They were:

France founded in—987; Portugal—1139; Spain—1492; England—1536; Holland (Netherlands)—1648; Austro-Hungarian Empire—1804; Belgium—1830; Italy—1861, and the German Empire—1871 (ex-Holy Roman Empire).

But the question that then had to be asked was… Were they ever in an alliance of 10 nations?

Final clue: I was able to identify the 10 modern nations that morphed out of the fourth beast (Western Roman Empire), when I realised that the kings symbolised in the iron/clay feet and toes (cf. Daniel 2:44a), would still be in existence when the God of Heaven established a kingdom for His people—which happened in 1948—in the 20th Century! Intriguingly, I found out that many of the modern European nations (named above), were already existing in a hidden alliance as founding members within The League of Nations, established in January 1920. N.B. Although there were 42 founding members, only 10 came from inside the borders of the Western Roman Empire!  The 10 founding (European) member nations (10 horns) were:

1. Britain (U.K), 2. Netherlands,  3. Belgium,   4. France,    5. Spain,   6. Portugal,   7. Switzerland

8. Italy,   9. Greece, 10. Yugoslavia (Kingdom of the Serbs, Croats, & Slovenes.)

Importantly, Germany was not a founding member in 1920; The German Reich/Weimar Republic (1918–1933), joined The League of Nations later, on September 9, 1926, (six years after the ‘bloc’ of 10 European nations joined). Hence, Germany can surely be identified as another horn, a little one coming up among them, which would rise after them (Dan. 7:8, 24), which proves Daniel’s prophecy is true to history!

NOTE:  The writer believes the term little used in relation to the little horn, refers to the two small pieces of Germany’s larger territory that were previously part of the Western Roman Empire! When the Weimar Republic joined the other European horn/nations in 1926, only two small areas of Germany’s territory were lying south of the Rhine and Danube Rivers. These rivers mark the northern boundaries of the old Western Roman Empire.

Unfortunately, the Weimar Republic only remained in The League for seven years, until Adolf Hitler’s Nazi (3rd Reich) withdrew the country from the League on October 19, 1933, to rebuild the army in opposition to the Disarmament Conference, thus breaching the Treaty of Versailles.  Nazi Germany’s ‘Third Reich’ later proceeded to pluck up and subdue three neighbouring nations (Dan. 7:8, 24b) to make (lebensraum/living space for the German people): Austria was invaded on March 12–13, 1938, Czechoslovakia on March 15–16, 1939 and Poland on September 1, 1939.

(N.B. This prophecy could not be identified or understood until the middle part of the 20th Century!

What happened next (leading up to the Holocaust), is prophetically recorded in Daniel 7:8, 20–22, 24b–26 and 7:11 in relation to the little horn’s treatment of the Jews—the Saints of the Most High. Daniel describes where Hitler rose up from, what he looked like, how he spoke, what he did, how he changed laws, the time-frame for the Holocaust, and how the last manifestations of the 4th Beast/Roman Empire (i.e., Nazi 3rd Reich, Berlin and Hitler’s body) were all destroyed by fire on 30th April 1945. It was only after the beast and horn were both destroyed (Dan. 7:11) that the little horn’s dominion (3rd Reich) was taken away forever (Dan. 7:26).

Afterward, the ‘kingdom and dominion’ (i.e., sovereignty and independence) was given to the people of the ‘Saints of the Most High’. This last phrase is used by Gabriel (cf. Daniel 7:18, 22, 25, 27), to describe the people of Judah—the Jews! Note the kingdom is not given to ‘the Saints of the Most High’ but to ‘the people’ of the ‘saints’ (i.e., their descendants), and so Israel was born in a day, May 14, 1948, (Isaiah 66:8).

There is much more written in my book.  Notably, I have identified the period in which the saints shall be given into his hand for a time and times and half a time’ (Dan. 7:25) as the core/crux of the Holocaust, because of the group-gassings that began on December 8, 1941 until Germany surrendered on May 7, 1945. This period covered 1247 days (inclusive), or three years and five months (solar years) just inside a time and times and half a time!

I don’t believe the Holocaust period is related to the ‘shortening of the days’ (Matt. 24:22), with respect to the troubles at the end of the age. Judging by the context of Matt. 24:22: Unless those days were shortened, ‘the elect’ would not be saved—may refer to the First Jewish Revolt that began in AD 66. During the early period of fighting the Roman soldiers withdrew from Jerusalem under the command of Legate of Syria, Cestius Gallus, cf. Battle of Beth Horon (66) - Wikipedia. The gap in the siege allowed many Christians to escape from Jerusalem, doing exactly what Jesus warned they should do in Matt. 24:15–22. Escape before the Romans returned to extend the siege, burn the Temple and Jerusalem in AD 70, and mop up the remaining rebels at Masada in AD 74.
