I may have asked this last year, but I don't remember the response:

So, if they find the ark again, and like David, bring it to the tabernacle that David had pitched for it in the city of David, which is Zion,

could they possibly begin to have sacrifices there, before the ark, and not necessarily have to do it on mount Moriah,

where they would need to take down the muslim structure there, and rebuild the Jewish temple?

Amos 9:11 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old:

Could this be prophetically speaking of raising up the tabernacle that David had pitched for the ark, before Solomon built the temple?

II Samuel 6:16 And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul’s daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart.

  17 And they brought in the ark of the LORD, and set it in his place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.

I Kings 8:1 Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem, that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion.

The following are all from Psalms that David wrote, which means while the ark was in that tabernacle in the city of David, which is Zion.

David referred to the temple in Jerusalem, not to the tabernacle of the congregation still in Gibeon, until the temple was built by Solomon.

Psalms 5:7 But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.

Psalms 11:4 The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD’S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.

Psalms 27:4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.

Psalms 29:9 The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory.

Psalms 65:4 Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.

Psalms 68:29 Because of thy temple at Jerusalem shall kings bring presents unto thee.
