Who are the Overcomers ???


There is a lot of question as to who the overcomers are that are spoken of in revelation.


Let's examine the scripture


Revelation 3:5


"He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels".


Revelation 3:12


"Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name".



Revelation 3:21


"To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne".



There are a lot of people who hold to the view that the overcomers are only faithful christians or those who dedicated their whole entire lives to Christ.


Both of those things are great however this is not what makes an overcomer.


Overcomers are those who put their faith in trust in the one who already overcame the world which is Jesus Christ.


Therefore his righteousness is imputed onto us and so in gods eyes we have become overcomers.


1 john 5:4


For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.


Jesus says



John 16:33



"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world".


Those things that are granted to Overcomers are only just a part of the inheritance, there are much more things that God has in store for us in heaven that are so great that are human minds can't even conceive of.


1 Corinthians 2:9


But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.


The greatest part of it all is that we cannot lose them as they were guaranteed to us by god the moment were saved.



1 Peter 1:3-4


Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you.


Ephesians 1:13-14 KJV


13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14 Which is the earnest (guarantee) of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.


So the purpose of this is to encourage all believers to not to focus on the things of this world but to look forward to our incorruptible and eternal inheritance that God has ready for us.
