John and Marilyn, please post. thanks/ david
Has everyone ''missed'' something that should be easily understood from Lev. 25 on HOW to count the years to the Jubilee.........and WHEN the Jubilee year STARTS?
And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years.
Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubile to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land. And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.
From the above verses it is obvious:
1) The ''way'' the years are being Counted is being Started in Nisan. Why? Duh? We know Atonement is Tishri 10 and the above verses clearly say that Atonement is counted as being in the 7th MONTH......not the First Month!
These Scriptures do NOT say to 'sound the trumpet on Atonement in the First month..........but the 7th Month!!! This PROVES the start of the years in question is Nisan........just as is the case in Lev. 23 with the Holy Days!
2) The verses say to ''count'' 49 years. Then (in that 49th year!) in the 7th month on Atonement to Sound the Trumpet. Notice it did NOT say the Jubilee started on Atonement..........it said to SOUND the Trumpet..........for what purpose?..........to ANNOUNCE THE COMING OF THE JUBILEE IN THE 50TH YEAR!
3) Thus the sounding of the Trumpet is in the 7th month of the 49th year on Atonement...........and the purpose is to ANNOUNCE the coming YEAR of Jubilee .........which is the 50th year.
4) The years, again, are being measured as starting in Nisan. So the count is to the 49th year, the 7th month, on Atonement..........then the Trumpet is sounded Announcing that the 50th year.........coming the following Nisan would be the year of Jubilee.
5) The above instructions are clear! You are to count off 49 years...........THEN.........in that 49th year on Atonement you are to sound the Trumpet in the 7th month of that 49th year. That verse does not say the Jubilee Starts with the sounding of the Trumpet! It says the sounding of the Trumpet is to ANNOUNCE that the coming 50th year, starting in Nisan, is to be observed as the Jubilee year.
HOW HAS THIS BEEN MISSED? By ''tradition''? You can't just ''say''.........''well the Jews counted these type of years from Tishri''. That ''might'' be true for some types of issues...........but NOT THIS ONE FOR WHICH INSTRUCTIONS ARE GIVEN SPECIFICALLY.
Yes, I invite a response, pro or con. But I ask that you stick to the above scriptures and not 'outside' sources.
If I have ''missed'' something I want to know!
If the above scriptures can be interpreted any other way than shown...........then show me.
No sarcasm intended...........but clearly I am frustrated with the fact that apparently nobody has ''seen'' this. I do believe Marilyn Agee agrees with what I have said.
By the way, in the gospels, when Jesus gave His first Sermon, it very likely was on the day of Atonement because he used verses from Isaiah that are connected to ANNOUNCING THE COMING JUBILEE. The verses that He quoted are those that are customarily spoken on Atonement!
Jesus did not say the 'Jubilee was here', but instead said 'I am her to Announce the coming of the Jubilee'. He knew of course when the Jubilee started......the coming Nisan.
Luk 4:17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,![]()
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach(Greek literal says to Announce!) the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,![]()
Luk 4:19
To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. ( Greek word for 'preach' is Strongs #2784 means literally:to be a herald, to officiate as a herald to proclaim after the manner of a herald)Jesus was fulfilling the Announcement of the Coming Year of Jubilee...........while preaching on the Day of Atonement. He was in effect ANNOUNCING, 'blowing the trumpet', for the coming Jubilee year!
