Mary,

For me, the understanding of those chosen to be left behind is clearly stated in 2 Peter 1:1, the very opening of that Epistle, and to whom it is addressed.

Simeon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ,
To those who have obtained a faith of equal standing with ours by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: (2 Peter 1:1)

The Word "obtained" here is chosen by lot, in other words by the divine choice of our Lord. This has nothing to do with Merit, or earned worthiness, but rather obedience to the Will of God.

During the apostolic church, not all believers were chosen to be martyrs. We do know that all twelve, with the exception of John the revelator died as Martyrs, as well as Paul were chosen for this end. (This is why I believe that John is one of the two witnesses who will fulfill this calling in the end.)

We also see in the book of revelation that the church is no longer mentioned (After chapter 4), but the Saints are mentioned, until chapter 14 of Revelation.

We also see that the Linen that the bride wears are the righteous deeds of the saints. What does this mean?

Revelation 12: 11, and 17 speaks of those who hold to the testimony of Jesus, Are these not Christians?

Take the time to read 2 Peter 1, especially the part of making sure of your election and calling, In light of the fact that this obtained by Lot.

With all this being said, I do not oppose those who are caught up. I will rejoice that day and yearn for it as all of you do. But I know, then, my calling will begin.

Gino:

This all goes along with your letter here:

The differences amongst us reflect our different callings. Some are not called to be witnesses after the rapture, while some are. Its the whole superiority thing that gets in the way of fellowship. Is my calling more worthy than yours? Or vice versa? No. We do all to the glory of God, if our heart is right. I still daily pray the prayer of the tax collector in Luke 18:1ff, because I know herein lies the errors and divisions in the church. Many have the attitude of the Pharisee.

Take the time to read the first 4 chapters of 1 Corinthians on divisions in the church, as well as James chapter 4. Here again, you will see that attitude of the Pharisees. That does not mean we tolerate false doctrines. But we must also understand that others are have a different calling than we do.

God bless.
