The prophecies in the Book of Daniel were sealed by God so that they could not be understood until the time of the end. Daniel 12:9 verifies this by saying, "Go thy way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed until the time of the end" (KJV). The exciting thing is that the chrono-specific prophecies in Daniel have now been unsealed for our understanding. I did not unseal them, but God did, acting through the nation of Israel.

 

On June 7, 1967, paratroopers of the 55th Brigade of the Israel Defense Forces liberated the Old City of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount during the Six-Day War. That event was the fulfillment of the prophecy recorded in Daniel 8:14. That prophecy says, "For 2,300 evenings and mornings [i.e., Passover nights], then the sanctuary shall be restored to its rightful state" (ESV). The prophecy had foretold the restoration of the Temple Mount to the Jews more than 2500 years before it happened in 1967, and that restoration event was the key act that unsealed all of the Daniel prophecies for understanding by this end-time generation.

 

I understood the importance of the Daniel 8 fulfillment in 1974. I explain how that event unsealed the Danielic prophecies in my book DANIEL UNSEALED, which precisely interprets the chrono-specific prophecies in Daniel, chapters 4 & 7-12, using the key interpretive data provided by God in Daniel 8.

 

The interpretations of the Danielic prophecies in my book adhere strictly to the biblical text and to documented history, as all true prophecy interpretation must. Unfortunately, most modern commentaries on Daniel do neither, and confusion has resulted. Any commentary on Daniel published before it was unsealed by God in 1967 (and those published afterwards that did not recognize the unsealing) cannot be accurate simply because the prophecies were sealed by God until then.

 

As a result, some very erroneous interpretations, especially those concerning Daniel, chapters 9 and 12, have gained a foothold in Christianity and have skewed our understanding of God's plan of redemption in these end-time days.
