“For God so loved the world that he gave his only and unique Son, so that everyone who trusts in him may have eternal life, instead of being utterly destroyed." [John 3:16][CJB]

There are two types of death. The death or destruction of the body and the death or destruction of the soul.

The death of the body everyone is familiar with.

The death or destruction of the soul, however, is a mystery to many. 

A soul is said to be destroyed when it his damned. 

It's the complete absence of eternal life.

We are said to have eternal life when the Love of God is continuously flowing into our souls. 

Our souls have been made by God to be recipients of His love when we love others as we love ourselves.

"We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death" [1 John 3:14] 

This absence of life in the soul is spiritual death and this is what places a soul in hell.

On the other hand, the presence of life in the soul means a person has the kind of life that will enable him to dwell in heaven with God forever.

The reason why we must trust in Jesus Christ and His teachings is because He is the ONLY source of eternal life and we can ONLY receive it from Him if we are obeying His commandments to love Him and others.

"And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

He said to him, “What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?”

So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’”

And He said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.” [Luke 10: 25-28]

We all at some point in our lives, have to decide whether what the Lord taught is true or not.

All those who trust in what the Lord taught obey His commandments and all those who don't ignore them.

All those who have chosen to ignore them practice fornication, adultery, homosexuality, wickedness, cruelty, hatred and revenge. 

All these ARE SOUL DESTROYING ACTIVITIES!

AFTER THE DEATH OF THE BODY SUCH A SOUL WILL END UP IN HELL.
