"Is Jeremiah 50-51 talking about the USA - or someone else?"

Jeremiah 50-51 says this....

  • "The word that the LORD spoke concerning Babylon...For out of the north there cometh up a nation against her, which shall make her land desolate, and none shall dwell therein..." (50:1...3...)

Let's see....North of the USA resides the scary military powers of  Canada and Greenland.  Is anyone in the USA really worried that Canada will attack us?  Or Greenland?  Not really.  Are we worried about Santa from the North Pole and his elves?  I don't think so.  There's just not a lot of countries North of the USA, but Jeremiah describes an

  • "I will stir up and cause to come up against Babylon an assembly of great nations from the north country" (Jer 50:9)

Can we really describe Canada and Greenland as "an assembly of great nations"?  But that is ALL that is North of the USA.  North of Ancient Babylon is Europe and Russia and several others.  That's a scary combo.  But Canada and Greenland?  Nope.  I am just not shaking in my boots that I might be in the land of "Babylon" here in Tennessee.

In Jeremiah 51, we get more of a clue as to what these nations from the North are....

  • "call together against her the kingdoms of Ararat (Turkey), Minni, and Ashkenaz (Germany area)" (Jer 51:27)
  • "the LORD hath roused the spirit of the kings of the Medes...Prepare against her the nations, the kings of the Medes" (51:11...28)

Yes, those are all nations North of Ancient Babylon, but East of the USA.  And a total count of 4 mations; far more than are North of the USA. Again, it is more evidence that the False Messiah will rise from Rome, and later will....

"...plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain" (Dan 11:45)

or in other words; ancient Babylon.
