The Holy Spirit was sent at Pentecost.

 

Hello John and Doves,

Now I will mention the feast of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit was sent down on the disciples on that day. The disciples were sent by the Lord Jesus on the day of His ascension to Jerusalem.

It is necessary to realize that the disciples had to wait much longer for the outpouring of the Spirit than is generally stated in the church today. Today's church speaks of ten days after the ascension of Jesus. However, this does not correspond to reality and the disciples had to wait at least another 50 days after the ascension of Jesus. It is obvious that they could not just be in the upper room all the time, but had to do ordinary things, buy food, etc.

According to the direct instruction of the Lord, they received the order to wait for the sending down of the Holy Spirit in Jerusalem, the disciples were not in the upper room most of the time, but were still in the temple, where they praised and glorified God. This is recorded in Luke 24:49-53: “49 And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you. But tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. 50 And he led them out as far as Bethany: and lifting up his hands, he blessed them. 51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, that he parted from them, and was carried up into heaven. 52 And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy: 53 And were continually in the temple, praising and glorifying God. Amen.”

The fact that they were all gathered in the upper room on the day of Pentecost indicates the fact that they must have known that the expected event would happen on the day of Pentecost. So the disciples were still in the Jerusalem temple until the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. They all gathered in the upper room on the day of Pentecost to unanimously expect the fulfillment from on high on that day. It is also much better to wait when the specific day of the expected event is revealed. The same applies to the rapture. Another thing is that unlike the people under Mount Sinai, who could not wait for God's promise for even fifty days, the 120 disciples demonstrated their loyalty to God's command and were able to wait for the Holy Spirit for at least fifty days. I think that this loyalty of theirs allowed this event of Pentecost to happen.

On the feast of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit was poured out on the disciples, and God’s saving grace was given to people of all nations through the work of the Lord Jesus. At Pentecost, which we now await, we can look forward to the most wonderful day of God’s grace, which is the resurrection and rapture of God’s people to their heavenly homes. Pentecost is this year on July 19, so we can rejoice and believe that this year’s Pentecost will already be fulfilled and our redemption is already so near.
