Looks like we're sitting ducks.

If that happens, then how long could the surviving Americans, not caught in the immediate areas of destruction and contamination, last?

There won't be electricity, or food shipments, and all but manual pumps would stop supplying water.

Those who wisely prepared, and have much food and water stored, will survive for a time, some for weeks, some for months, and perhaps a few for years.

Will some of them be able to start farming, again?

Will there possibly be a later, land invasion by Russian and/or Chinese forces?

Will they then capture, or pick off, any of the survivors?
