"scorched?"

scorched?

Revelation 16:8 And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.

9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

There are three types of heat transfer: conduction, convection, and radiation.
Conduction is where the heat moves through a substance, like metal, from where the temperature is hotter, to where the temperature is colder.
It is demonstrated by cooking a hot dog with a short metal fork, over a fire, the heat begins moving up the fork, until it is too hot to hold on to anymore.
Convection is where the heat moves by causing the air molecules to move faster, near the higher temperature, but then causing the surrounding molecules to also move faster.
It is demonstrated by sitting in the shade on a summer day with no breeze, and it is still hot and miserable.
Radiation is where heat moves by light, out from the hotter location, where the light is brighter; e.g. orange to white hot metal sends out more heat, than red hot metal.
It is demonstrated by warming ourselves near a fire at night.
Obviously, these different mechanisms of heat transfer often work together; e.g. the sun transfers heat to the earth by light, and the heated air moves around even after sunset.

When the fourth vial of wrath is poured out, it says, "scorch men with fire".
To scorch is different than to bake; e.g. like the difference between a cake in the oven or a steak on the grill.
The steak can be scorched when the grease drips down, causing the flame to come up and even touch the steak.
Putting the steak in the oven, with the cake, will cook it, but it won't be scorched.
So, why are there so many books, or videos, where the fourth vial of wrath is likened to global warming?
If the global temperature rises, more people will be baked, like in the desert, even under the shadow of a large rock.
But doesn't scorched kind of give a picture of people being touched by something hot, in this case fire?
So, could this vial of wrath involve something like solar flares, where flames reach the earth, and actually touch people, and burn them?
