Donna,Wowzers!! Those were some good and very interesting thoughts and questions, for sure. That is how I have always seen it, that hell and the lake of fire, are two different places, one temporary, and the other everlasting. The occupants of the temporary will be transferred to the everlasting, after the great white throne judgment:
Revelation 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
You did an excellent job of showing how hell is for the soul, but that the lake of fire is for both a resurrected body and the soul.
You also brought up what Isaiah spoke about, and I've been wondering about that as well, lately.Your thought about that does make a lot of sense, though.I had a thought as well, but it is just that, my thought, I can't prove it:In the scripture noted above, it mentions two (locations with occupants?) cast into the lake of fire, death and hell. With both starting with small letters, it is not talking about simply two beings, like the two beings with the pale horse:
Revelation 6:8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.
In that case, "Death and Hell", appear to possibly be two celestial beings, called by those actual designations.Whereas, "death and hell", appear to possibly be locations, as Jesus mentioned:
Revelation 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
Apparently, keys may be for locations that can be closed or opened. Therefore, I was thinking that maybe, during the thousand year kingdom, those you referenced, from Isaiah:
Isaiah 66:24 And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.
That they will be suffering, on earth, similar to what the lake of fire will be, possibly, for one, to be a deterrent for those born during the kingdom. But also, as you pointed out, that maybe these are they that took the mark of the beast, during the tribulation. And perhaps one of the side effects of the mark is a perversion of eternal life, where they don't completely die, but rather are dying continuously, without becoming fully dead. So, that the place where they are, during the thousand years, is called death.
Then, at the white throne judgment, the souls in hell are brought up, to be joined with their bodies, resurrected from the dust of which is either in the earth or in the sea. Also, then, the bodies and souls of those perpetually dying recipients of the mark of the beast, suffering in what has been called death, will be brought to the judgment as well. The occupants of both places, death and hell, are then cast into the lake of fire.Again, that is merely my thought.
The day before I read this letter of yours, I had put together something on the subject of sin, where I touched on some of these things you mentioned, or I did, above.I plan to send that to John, for FiveDoves.Anyway, you may find parts of it that you can agree with, but there may also be parts of which that you may consider to be incorrect.I which case, I reckon that you may respond, possibly in both manners, to which I look forward to - so thank you in advance.
