Hello Gino,http://www.fivedoves.com/letters/june2022/gino612-2.htmMy main point was that Ascension Day is such an important day - it probably did occur on a Festival of the Lord - Jesus was the last Passover lamb, He sin free body lay in the tomb and He was the firstfruits of the dead (fulfilling Passover, Unleavended Bread, Firstfruits). I think that such an important occurrence - His Ascension - the Lord's last day with us, His rising to take His seat next to God - is no less important than the other three things listed. Shavuot was the next Festival of the Lord in the lineup. Why would this not happen on a Feast of the Lord? Makes sense to me. Maybe my other letters on 12 June 2022 cleared up my letter for you. Hope so.Also, I and others have written many letters commenting on 'which calendar is the correct calendar to use?' Your letter questioning the count of days is another of many. And where do we start the New Year count and how do we count to Shavuot, Ascension Day, etc., as you wrote. The Jews today don't even use THE CORRECT calendar. As for Shavuot - they just picked 6 Sivan for every year. That said - there is a CORRECT way to count all of these days and figure out the months, days, etc. The Jewish people lost this over the years. And we've been trying to figure it out every since. The CORRECT calendar is the one the Levite priests used back when the First and Second Temples existed - I write that because they could ONLY enter the Holy of Holies on the Day of Atonement. If they entered on any other day they would be struck down. It had to be that exact day. I wrote a letter some time back to Doves about this. They knew how to count everything out back then.If the Jewish people rebuilt their Temple...they'd be hard pressed to have a Levite priest enter the Holy of Holies on the Day of Atonement - because I really doubt they, today, even know how to count out the days! God would have to reveal this to them. The Sanhedrin that exists today hasn't done anything to correct their calendar. And they know it's wrong. Have they even addressed the new moon/sighting the sliver? They go by Saturdays, Sundays, etc. and go by a new moon calculation. The Torah, the Creator's, The Chabad, The Hebcal, The Essene, The Zadok (Qumran), etc. and when does the count begin for the New Year to start the biblical calendar? I have covered this topic in multiple letters over the years. I like the Zadok priest calendar - and the Essene calendar - I've read that even they are different. Ken Johnson and Josh Peck have spent a lot of time studying and writing about the Essenes and their calendar. Many people have spend lots of time figuring out a particular calendar. Somebody is probably right! We just don't know for sure which calendar is correct. And we do know that the Jewish calendar of today isn't "biblical"...so we can pick a favorite or favorites and go from there. The Dead Sea Scrolls may be definitive...but ....Christians aren't even united on a biblical calendar! That said....I do believe even though we do not know which calendar is correct or the exact way to count days, we can be close...or even right on. I've seen some compelling work/study done on Doves and elsewhere. For example, I've seen numerous ways to count to Shavuot. I myself, have written about different ways - all seemed 'right'. I've read other people's letters and changed my mind or added to my thoughts. And many here have written letters with all kinds of counts - most have pretty compelling reasons for their method. Some ways I hadn't thought of. Sometimes I use the chabad calendar, sometimes I use the Essene, sometimes I reference one of the others, etc. Anyone who reads my letters regularly sees I often identify the calendar I use. I know some here use the Torah or Creator's calendar.I appreciate you and other Doves taking the time to share their thoughts on this *and so many other topics*.It's like a puzzle - it may take many Doves and other Believers, each with a piece....So keep writing your letters, please!!Just a few thoughts on this.....Blessings to you, Gino!Chance
