Doesn't this exact same question, still stand for the King of Jordan, today?

Jeremiah 49:1 Concerning the Ammonites, thus saith the LORD; Hath Israel no sons? hath he no heir? why then doth their king inherit Gad, and his people dwell in his cities?

Wasn't Gad in the east bank of Jordan, which is still currently under control of the king of Jordan?
