There is an interesting possibility for the generation which is being referred to in Matthew 24:34

There are currently 2 people alive on earth who were born in the 1800's.  Jeralean Talley, who was the oldest, passed away on Wednesday.  People in this generation may be thought of as those who saw 'all these things', the start of national Zionism, birth of Israel, etc ...

Our date system is based on Jesus (A.D. Anno Domini - In the Year of the Lord) and 100 years is one of the possible meanings of a generation.  This is also the first time in history that we can know such information, though of course it's possible that an unrecorded person is out there somewhere.

It's not anything that can be nailed down, but I just think it's interesting.
