Israel was to be a light of spiritual revelation to the pagan Gentiles of the Nations. Where? Find light in The 10 Commandments, of which the subcategories/offshoots are in the 613 mitzvah. Core 10. Then learn more minute definitions of the 10 within the 613. Messiah/Christ said to follow his example. Obey.
Here is a phrasing for Commandment 7. "You Do Not Break Wedlock." At Creation, by Moses, then by Messiah/Christ, the same model of marriage was declared. The same pattern. Unchanged. Declarations have been made in The Scriptures thrice. Marriage is a divine institution, begun with the first man (husband) Adam and the first woman (wife) Eve in heterosexual monogamy. Any generic alternatives? No. Alterations? No. Any "progressive revelation"? No. For the third time, Messiah stated the same definition of marriage: a divine institution between only one man (husband) and one woman (wife) until death. No easy divorce. Mark 10:6 "But from the beginning of creation God made them male and female." Mark 10:9 "What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate." Is a DIFFERENT DEFINITION OF MARRIAGE PARTICIPANTS a form of separating or putting asunder a divine command? "Do Not Break Wedlock" has not been changed, been modified, or abolished. In each of 3 Scriptural Declarations, about 2000 years apart each, marriage retains the same definition with no generic alternatives and no fill in the blanks. In Deuteronomy, people are warned not to delete or add words to the Testimony, to the Torah. Where? Do not play around with ANY of the 10 VOWS OF MARRIAGE, THE 10 COMMANDMENTS!
For Father, Son, and Spirit these are IMPERITIVES not suggestions, ABSOLUTES not outmoded ideas or jokes. They will allow Torah breaking. At what possible costs? Death, judgment, condemnation and the Lake of Fire will await "the workers of iniquity."
What if it is declared in a ruling soon that homosexual male marriages and lesbian marriages are legal and protected under the Constitution in the U.S.A.? Might this put marriage asunder according to Commandment 7? Will it separate what Abba Father has joined together? Break Marriage Vow 7, and all the 10 Marriage Vows? Will this ruling be more important than the ruling of 1-22-1973? Consequences? An observation about phrasing. Commandment 7 is different from all the other 9. It is the only one to warn not to "put asunder" or "separate what God has joined together." Will the ruling prove a momentous spiritual sea change event? We shall see.
With Love and Shalom,
Jean
