"Two Classes, Two Days"

Two Classes, Two Days

June 3, 2015

There are two classes of Christians > Those that watch and those that do not.

There are two days > The Day of Christ and the Day of the Lord.

There are certain promises for those that watch, and conversely for those that do not watch, both emphatic in the outcome and result of due diligence or the lack thereof.  The watching has to do with a certain TIME period or Day pertaining to either the revealing of the Lord for His Church or for end time judgments.

Let us call the watchers as Group A and those that do not watch as Group B

Let us call the two days as Day 1 for the Day of Christ and Day 2 for the Day of the Lord.

There is a difference in the Day of Christ and the Day of the Lord.  The Day of Christ is the return of Jesus for His Bride Church at the rapture, while the Day of the Lord pertains to the tribulation period.  These days are separate and distinct within the Scriptures, as has been pointed out by Pastor Bob, and many others on the Five Doves site.  There are contrasts in the TIME of the rapture and the long day of the Lord that ends with Christ’s global, visible return at the end of the great tribulation.

My purpose here is not to convince the reader of the truth of the separate events, but rather to contrast the Watcher vs. the Non-Watcher, and the promises to both Groups.

                              Group A – Watcher                                                           Group B – Not a Watcher

Mt 24: 42 Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour[f] your Lord is coming. 43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

(Day 2)

Mt 24:48 But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’[g] 49 and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, 50 the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, 51 and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.  (Day 2)

Mt 24:37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,  (Day 2)

(Days of Noah – cont) Mt 24:39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

(Day 2)

(There will be a great tribulation): Mt 24:21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened. (Day 2)  (There is a set time for the great tribulation)

(There will be a return of the Lord): Mt 24:29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. (There is a set time for the return of the Lord)

(Last generation timing – Parable of the Fig Tree): Mt 24:32 “Now learn this parable from the fig tree (Israel): When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves (1948), you know that summer (Day 2) is near. 33 So you also, when you see all these things, know that it[d] is near—at the doors! 34 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. (Day 2)

(The eido factor – From “The Equation” by Malcolm Isted.  This verb should have been translated in past perfect tense.  Therefore the sense of Mt 24:36 is greatly modified and is in line with other portions of Scripture. The verse should read > Mt 24:36 No man has known the day or hour (of Christ’s return) until now…. (Jesus just told His disciples the timing of His return in the parable > Within one generation of 1948 birth of Israel. (Day 2)

(Generational Timing): Ps 90 by Moses gives the length of a generation at the time of the end. Ps 90 > Man’s days are 70 years, or by reason of strength 80 years.  Average is 75 years.  Adding 75 Biblical years to the birth of Israel gives 2022 for …all to be fulfilled. (Day 2)

Rev 3:3 Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you. (Day 2)

Lk 21:36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy[c] to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

Lk 21:34 “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth.

1 Thes 5:4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.

(Day 2)

1 Thes 5:2 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. (Day 2)

1 Thes 5:5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.

1 Thes 5:7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night.

1 Thes 5:8 But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, (Day 2)

Eph 5:5 For this you know,[a] that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them  (Day 2)

1 Pet 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers

(Day 2)

Rev 16:5 “Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.” (Day 2)

1 Thes 1:9 For they themselves declare concerning us what manner of entry we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10 and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come. (Day 2)

Rev 6:15 And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders,[a] the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, 16 and said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17 For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”  (Day 2)

(Rapture of the Church): 1 Thes 4:16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.  (Day 1)

2 Thes 2:1 Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ[a] had come. Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin[b] is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God[c] in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. (Day 1)

1 Cor 15:51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.  (Day 1)

2 Thes 2:6 And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He[d] who now restrains will do so until He[e] is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. (Day 1)

Jn 14:1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions;[a] if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.[b] And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. (Day 1)

2 Thes 2:9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
