"To: Bob Anderson Ref. Rev. 14:6"

Bob:

I always enjoyed Les Feldick's Bible studies back when I had the DISH network.  His casual demeanor is disarming and he is one of the better teachers on TV and certainly equals the best of academia.  We don't expect a rancher to be every bit a scholar in his own right.  His laid back style belies his depth and grasp of the Word.

Now to your questions.  The "everlasting Gospel" is the same Gospel proclaimed by the Apostles and recorded in the New Testament.  John in Rev. 14:6 is returning to another vision to the theme of judgment.  John, from where he was on Earth, and in the vision saw another angel (a good angel of the same kind he had seen before).  This angel was flying in midheaven, with one purpose to preach the Good News of the eternal Gospel to all on the Earth, so no one left will be able to say on the judgment day that he has never heard.  No excuses!

Yes, the "everlasting Gospel" is the same Gospel.  There is no other Gospel.  As Paul said, "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed."  -(Galatians 1:8-9).  Even in the midst of the Tribulation God will still be seeking people who will turn to Him.  The message of the Gospel is always redemptive, and it calls people to a recognition of God's love, His sovereignty, His holiness, and is an appeal to worship Him.  God alone is the One who created the universe, and He alone deserves the worship of those He created.

The message of the angel will emphasize that God is not only the Creator but also the Judge, so it is well suited to the time of judgment during which it is given.  It is the same genuine Gospel preached by the Apostles and has the same object: to influence people to repent.  Even at this late hour in John's discussion of the Great Tribulation there will be an invitation to receive God's grace and salvation.

Interestingly, as I read the 'Preface' of Bullinger's commentary on Revelation, he was unable to see come to fruition what was his foresight of Israel's restoration.  When he was alive Covenant theologians were writing the demise of the Jews as a people.  Bullinger foresaw by 50 years, as well as Darby by 100 years, the restoration of Israel.  As a student of Bible prophecy for 51 years I can empathize with their patient faith to call it from Biblical interpretation while everyone around them were writing the Jews off.

Back to the passage in question of Revelation 14:6 ("eternal Gospel") is the only time this expression is used in the entire Bible.  The Greek word is "aionios", which translated "eternal" is found 97 times in 91 verses.  It is an adjective always is found with another key word.  It appears in 8 different grammatical forms, including "aionion" in Revelation 14:6.

The New Testament writers knew of no "timeless eternity", only or time without end.  According to the Bible, history [His-Story] always moves toward a goal: the realization of the Kingdom of God in time and space.  God is the God of all time and space; but He is not bound by it.  Therefore, it is especially important to avoid imposing a Platonic view of eternity upon the Biblical writers.  In eternity there is no such thing as time - no such thing as past, present, or future, only an eternal now.  According to Plato everything in the created order belonged to the realm of time, while eternity was the exclusive territory of the deity.

While it describes in the book of Revelation, the term for a thousand years is "chilia".  If John had meant something else, such as a long time, or an infinite period, he would have availabile other words to express something different.  He could have used the Hebrew word "olam" which means a long time or he would have used the Greek equivalent word of "olam" or "aionios".  Being that it is an adjective it is always used in conjuntion with central words or ideas of the Gospel.  Of particular importance regarding the six references of 1,000 years in Revelation 20, the text, in all six uses, used the word "chilia".  It is a good example to use in order to out a false teacher because they can't get around the Greek text use that specifically defines the Millennium as 1,000 years.

The use of the construction "zoe aionios", or "eternal life" reveals an implication that the term acquires a qualitative sense in addition to its quantitative implications.  Eternal life transcends the old existence which the Bible depicts as "spiritual death" -(Ephesians 2:1,5).  Eternal life is communion with God, the very fountain of life.

There is litle doubt that the word "eternal" in the instance of Rev. 14:6 is used in its absolute sense and connotes "endlessness".  64 places where "aionios" is used it means "endlessness".

The last portion of your post referenced a topic that I would like to hold aside for now.  I am referring to the Antichrist portion of Revelation.  But to give you something to think upon, I am going to throw out to you something for grist thought.  This even touches upon your comments on Daniel 7.  Keep in mind the thought that "kingdoms have kings"  I think you will catch on here.

Thought to consider:  The Antichrist is both a person and a political entity system.
The False Prophet is both a person and an entity system.
The "Image" of the Beast is an entity system.
The Beast is a entity system.

Related to this, consider:    There are three independent city/states in the industrial world:
                                                    1. Vatican (religious)
                                                    2. London (economic/financial)
                                                    3. Washington, DC (political/military)

Rick Coomb's book, 'America, Mystery Babylon' started me on this analysis back in 1996.  I tried to get Rick to do another book, bringing in the Vatican dimension.  We corresponded many times and time did not work for us on bringing this idea to print or to ebook which we discussed.   A few months before he died of cancer, I had been in contact with him on what I believed to be the missing element of his two books on the subject.  It is my view that "Mystery Babylon" is, in fact, a composite of all three independent city/states above.  More to discuss on this, I think you will agree.  This is the true head of the Illuminati pyramid power system.  Because the Vatican has used the House of Rothschild as their financial fiduciary, they [Vatican] can hide behind plausible denial at every turn and fork in the road of events.  The Vatican scapegoats the Jews!

Just a couple closing remark about your note on Daniel 7.  In my posts on "Standing in the Gap" series, which I just completed this past week, I was doing what I call - "peeling the onion" approach in micro form of Daniel 9:24-27.  From a macro approach to the book of Daniel, there is so much more to validate the "Gap" idea when one looks at the complete book of Daniel along with dozens of threads that coalesce from the rest of Scripture.  I am taking the macro approach in my posts on "Absence of Proof is Not Proof of Absence".

God bless,

Pastor Bob
