Thanks Vic for Joel Richardson’s comment on Daniel 9:26 regarding “Who was that Prince?” I hadn’t noticed the connection before. I have for quite some time believed that those 70 weeks were of 490 days and not weeks-of-weeks indicating years. I believe those 70 weeks were completed with His first coming. He is our ‘wall of fire’ that came down at Pentecost and baptized the 120 in the Upper Room at Pentecost. That 3rd Temple has been in the building stage ever since. Jesus confirmed the [New] Covenant with the many in the midst of the 63rd week and 7 weeks later the Holy Spirit came down completing 70 weeks. There are no more weeks to go through. We don’t know the exact day or hour but we can guesstimate or watch as we’re told to do. Actually, I have a date in mind but it’s my secret. ;o)--> If by the time of Emperor Vespasian, his armies consisted of men from Macedonia, Syria, and those of the east and north, as Joel said, then Ezekiel must be referring to them in chapter 38 at the time that Jerusalem and the Temple were destroyed and later the Jews were banished from Jerusalem. Prince Titus was Vespasian’s son and next emperor of Rome. He came down and destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple.Daniel 9:26 “And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince [Titus] that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
Ezekiel 38:1-4, 15 “And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, and say, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:”
“And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army:”
Ezekiel 4:5-6 “For I have laid upon thee the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days: so shalt thou bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.
And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year.” [40 years]
Ezekiel must be referring to the forty years from the Crucifixion of Jesus to the destruction of the Temple on the 9th of Av.
