There is an important fact about Jewish tradition concerning Shavuot Eve, the night when Shavuot begins at Sivan 6 at sunset according to the Hillel Calendar. Some try to REMAIN AWAKE ALL NIGHT, reading from the Torah. This includes the 4 Night Watches: from 6 to 9, 9 to midnight, midnight to 3, then 3 to 6. These 12 hours comprise the only annual night for Israel to remain awake for spiritual reasons through the experience of living through the Night Watches. It is not commanded in the Torah, rather it is a tradition of men. There are evenings and partial nights to remain awake until the midnight hour, until the conclusion of the Second Watch. These are Nisan 15 (The Original First Passover), Nisan 14 (the commanded subsequent First Passover), and the Second Passover at Iyar 14. Reading the Torah. The Messiah of Israel is The Word (Torah) made flesh and dwelt with humankind. He is the Living Word, the personification of the Torah. Read the Torah, see the Messiah. Soon, the extended Exodus Season will be fully accomplished.
What does the Messiah/Christ, the Word Made Flesh, caution the Bride of the Ages to do? Preparation? Repent. Wear undefiled garments. Watch. Be not overwhelmed by drunkenness, dissipation, sleepiness, and "the cares of life." The Age of Grace is nearly over. Summer is near, even at the gates.
For Israel, Shavuot begins the evening of 6-3 in 2014, as Sivan 6 begins on the Hillel Calendar. The Christian Calendar sees Pentecost as later this year, from 6-7 to 8. Long ago, Sivan 5 was the 3rd day of preparations complete, when each and all of The Exodus people from Egypt of "the mixed multitude" were to have repented, cleansed their bodies, and washed their clothes. By Sivan 5, each was to be clothed in undefiled garments. Preparations complete. All ready for what? For wedding and marriage. As before, so again? For wedding and marriage? Be repentant, pure, undefiled, and watching during the Night Watches One through Four on Shavuot Eve?
Few will be watching for the arrival of The Groom of the Ages the night of 6-3. Day 4 of the Spiritual Week, the midst of the Menorah. The Servant Lamp of the Messiah. Global military exercises will be underway until 6-8. Expectations of living normally. Life going on as it always has. Yet. Remember the days of Noah. Remember the days of Lot. Is there transformation ahead during an hour of one of the Night Watches, Night of Torah, on 6-3? During the First Watch from 6 to 9, or the Second Watch from 9 to midnight, or the Third Watch from midnight to 3, or the Fourth Watch from 3 to 6? Will it be wisdom to eagerly await each hour of that night? The son of man promises to appear "at an hour you think not." A special Shavuot Eve Night to be awake, alert, and WATCHING? The son of man will surprise many when that promised hour is come.
With Love and Shalom,
Jean
