Hi Vidalia. I had read that book, A MESSAGE FROM GOD by Retha and Aldo McPherson, about 5 years ago. While in a coma, young Aldo had a supernatural experience where he went to heaven, saw God and the angels, etc. The book primarily chronicled Aldo's struggles, his recovery, his letters, and his mom's awesome and unwavering faith. Pretty impactful book, IMHO! I make a point of praying for discernment when reading such testimonies and found this book to be a blessing as the name of Jesus was lifted up time and again.
- "On June 19, 2004, a South African family had a serious car accident. The accident left their 12-year old son, Aldo McPherson, in a coma and on life support. God did a number of miracles for Aldo and his family. God allowed Aldo to experience heaven and then asked Aldo to share a message with the world. God also taught Aldo and his family — especially his mother Retha McPherson — how to speak life and restoration over Aldo’s physical condition. In response to their obedience God began healing Aldo."
- Per Retha: "All this pain was so unnecessary! Jesus had already paid the price in full. After I had given my life to Him as a living sacrifice, I could get in line with God’s perfect plan for my life – to live in a love relationship with the living God! Only then could I say that it didn’t matter whether I lived or died, as long as I glorified God."
Thank you, Vidalia, for bringing this to our attention. Aldo would be about 21 years old today. I did go to their web and see Aldo with a young woman whom I'm assuming will be his new bride. All praises to Almighty God for using this family to proclaim His Word!Note: There is a website out there which is critical of the book. This particular fellow unfairly criticized the mother for stating the following: “Jesus is coming for a spotless Bride: those who will lay down their lives as a living sacrifice to Him.” He says this is "unbiblical," but it's obvious this man missed the point she was making...and has not read his Bible in its entirety:
Romans 12:1-2 says, "Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - His good, pleasing and perfect will."
Mathew 10:39 reads: "He that findeth his life shall lose it; and he that loseth his life for My sake shall find it."
1 Peter 2:1-5 reads: "Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. As you come to him, the living Stone - rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him - you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ."
Hebrews 13:15-16 says, "Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise - the fruit of lips that confess his name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased."
Psalm 51:17 declares: "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise."Blessings!
