Julia, I may have read this sometime in the past, but there are many mishappened births: hairlips, no arms or legs because of taking certain drugs during pregnancy, big heads, etc. 

 

I read in one that the women drank some drug to keep from getting pregnant so to keep their figure.  So they had birth control methods even before the flood.  Sounds like today to me.
