Clay C re 2Samuel and dividing by two

Samuel has been a “frequent flier” for me recently, also.  In 1 Samuel 30 one sees a “third day”, those “taken”, a message from the ephod(breastplate), and those “left behind” at the brook.  Plus, this verse specifically mentions David’s “two wives”, a theme which is reflected widely in scripture.

Your “multiplying and dividing by 2” method interested me.  When searching gematria lists I have often found that, in addition to focusing on first occurrence, the one or two in the middle of the list of occurrences often have had a strong connection to the theme I was considering.  The middle, being a divider of two parts, is like dividing by two.  This is reminiscent of the master candle in the middle of the menorah, or even Psalm 119 in the middle of scripture.  Praise God!

Lyle C re Marylin re Garry B

Your comments were certainly stated with confidence.  You were “astounded” that Marilyn’s conclusions were so different than yours.  So naturally, I expected a very logical explanation in your writing.  After reading both I realized she had actually offered more scripture.  Many of your statements required several assumptions of your own, stated as dogmatic fact.  I think you may not have realized this.  Perhaps all of your conclusions are correct. However, you may want to consider whether your logic is supported by several assumptions.

A question:  How do you know the Revelation trumpets are not associated with Rosh Hashanah?  This is an enduring question precisely because there is no definitive scripture as far as I am aware.  However, if things are as obvious as you contend, why have so few of us been able to come into agreement?  Marilyn makes a good case which you have not addressed.  We are seeking understandings which seem to be unclear to many.  Your context may differ from others.  Thanks for offering your perspective, which many will beneficially consider in comparison to their own views.

For the record, I was more “astounded” by Garry B’s post.  Garry B’s contention that the remnant is the seed of the Jewish woman and must be Jewish is both correct and incorrect.  Even today, all Christians are of the seed of the Jewish woman as followers of a living Christ Jesus.  At the same time, most of us are gentiles. Further, Hebrew remnant will include all or most of the tribes, not just Judah.

Jesus Lives!

Patty RP re 1 Cor 10:31

Thank You and I agree with both of you.  I do allow for others to see it differently, but our preferences are the same.
