"Re Paul NF's - what
it means to Accept Christ-Here we must be right or be
eternally lost"
Dear John and all Doves
The post by the late Paul NF on June 2, 2012 is probably the
best I have read that fully explains in precise and elegant
terms the difference between those who argue we are saved by
grace alone and those who argue works must accompany grace.
In fact, as the letter demonstrates, it is neither.
Obedience and works for our Lord come automatically when true
acceptance and true surrender of our "selves" are to Christ
Jesus. The person who merely "accepts Christ" and
continues on in their normal lifestyle expecting to be saved by
grace alone, continuing in wilful sin - is not what "accepting
Christ" is about. Acceptance of Jesus into one's heart,
mind and soul also requires a contrite heart, humble repentance
and to the best of our abilities to live as Jesus did - now
obviously we cannot do that as we are not yet made perfect
- but we must strive to do so to our best so that one wonderful
day we can hear those words "well done, my good and faithful
servant".
Please all take the time to read this article on the Doves site
on 2nd June - it is an absolute gem (as most of the late Paul
NF's are) and addresses the issue of grace vs works for once and
for all.
God bless you all,
