Hello, John and Doves,
WWI ended on 11/11/1917.
100 prophetic years from that
date brings us to Yom Shabbat, 27 Iyyar 5776--Saturday,
June 4, 2016.
On that Shabbat day, Parshah
Bechukotai is read, Leviticus 26:3 to 27:34.
This parshah reaffirms HaShem's
promise to bless obedient Israel. It also serves to
remind Israel why it was allowed to be dispersed to the
ends of the earth (26:14-39).
Then, in Leviticus 26:40-45,
God lays out His plan of redemption for the nation of
Israel.
It is interesting, then, that
Leviticus 27:4 talks obliquely of Judas' betrayal of Our
Lord:
"And
if it [be] a female, then thy estimation shall be thirty
shekels."
We know that Jesus did not have
the thirty shekels to redeem Himself:
"But
if he be poorer than thy estimation, then he shall
present himself before the priest, and the priest shall
value him; according to his ability that vowed shall the
priest value him."
And here's where the substitutionary atonement
is mentioned:
"And
if [it be] a beast, whereof men bring an offering unto
the LORD, all that [any man] giveth of such unto the
LORD shall be holy.
"He
shall not alter it, nor change it, a good for a bad, or
a bad for a good: and if he shall at all change beast
for beast, then it and the
exchange thereof shall be holy."
Oh, and btw, June 4, 2016 is
Erev Yom Yerushalayim!
