"Calculated date of Pentecost -"

Hello, John and Doves,

If you're going to be nitpicky, better know what a nit looks like.

"Corn" in the KJV refers to any and all grain.  In this case, it refers to barleycorn.

The firstfruits of the barley are offered on 15 Nisan, every year.

If the barley has not reached the "abib" state, then the month of Abib (or Nisan) may not begin until an intercalated month, Adar II, is added immediately after Adar I.  That's assuming anyone really pays attention to the barley.  They do not.  Calendars are figured years in advance.

The question really becomes, does God go by some secret calendar, or does he pay attention to what's happening down here?

To answer this question, let us look at the various signs and calamities that have punctuated important dates on the calendar to be found at http://www.aish.com/jl/hol/o/48970511.html.

This is an exercise best left to the serious student.  Many good studies are available here, on http://www.fivedoves.com/.

"Calculated date of Pentecost -"

I was doing some research on Pentecost, got out my "Jewish Holidays" book.

It referred me to Deuteronomy 16:9-10

"Seven weeks shalt thou number unto thee: begin to number the seven weeks from such time as thou beginnest to put the sickle to the corn. And thou shalt keep the feast of weeks unto the LORD thy God with a tribute of a freewill offering of thine hand, which thou shalt give unto the LORD thy God, according as the LORD thy God hath blessed thee:"

Seems pretty clear to me - When the harvest of the corn starts, then start counting 7 weeks from that point.

New problem - when did/does the harvest of the corn start?

YBIC, John...  :)
