Hi Barry,
Wasn't able to get back to you right away.
Okay. I am game. Let's hear what you
have pondered on in respect to Luke 16. The passage
doesn't begin with the statement that it is in the context of a
parable, but I am assuming it is. Since all/most parables
are in relationship to what was being presented to the Jews -
the Kingdom of Heaven- then the positions of the people in the
parables reflects clues as to the operation of the
Heavenly Kingdom. I assume that the rich man would
in analogy be God the Father or God the Son. The steward,
in keeping with other parables, would be those that come into
the employ of the rich man. (as a christian we choose to
be a part of God's ministry here on earth and are given all that
we need to carry out the plans the Father has set for us through
His Son.) How the rest of the story relates to christians
I am not sure. Haven't spent alot of time pondering it,
but when I have, I realize that I haven't learned enough to be
able to understand the importance of the acts of the "lazy"
steward in gathering some of the money....to be able to relate
it to something pertinent within the economy of the Kingdom of
God. If you have insight, I would enjoy reading and
looking at your thoughts.
