Methuselah grandfather to Noah was the last of "the righteous" to be removed from the earth through death before the flood waters came. Methuselah died 7 days before God shut the door of the Ark.
The 7 days were given as not only a time to mourn the dead, but as a " heads up" for those wicked upon the earth.
The people in that day KNEW  the meaning of Methuselah's name. " His death shall bring".
One would think that they would have repented, seeing the Ark built, and Noah's warnings and now the death of Methuselah, that God was going to do what he said he would do. Yet they did not repent.
God spared [all] the righteous through death before the flood.
We today do not usually name our children according to the meaning of their names. But in those days they did.
From Adam- Noah God sent the first message of our coming Messiah.
Adam- Man is
Noah- comfort and rest
The message;
Man is appointed mortal sorrow, but the blessed God shall come down teaching; His death shall bring the desparing, comfort and rest.
Praise God he will also remove the righteous before the coming Wrath.
Rev 3: 10
Because thou hast kept the word of my patience,"I also will keep thee from the HOUR of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
