re: The Use of Alcohol By Believers"
Dear Nicole,
I appreciate your posts so very much, and I am in agreement with
the discernment you show on so many topics. I will agree that
abuse of alcohol, intoxication,or frequenting bars ( the party
scene) ect.is not for the Christian believer. I will tell you
that the tradition of wine (real wine, not grape juice) is part
of the Jewish faith and a tradition that has been handed
down for thousands of years. My husband is Jewish and I
have been celebrating Passover with him for a long time. The
Jews have always used real wine. Every Friday night the Sabbath
blessing includes real wine. Remember, the wedding
guest at the marriage when Jesus changed water into wine was
amazed that they saved the best wine for last. That was because
the quality of wine can be noticed by age, year, grape ect.
Grape juice is grape juice. I do understand your sincere concern
and warning about the importance of being sober these days as we
get closer to the return of our Lord. Jewish people,as a rule,
are not big users of alcohol. I have been to many weddings and
Bar Mitzvahs and alcohol is always served . The Bible also makes
reference to its use. We are not supposed to be drunkards and if
someone has an addiction or is not moderate in the drinking of
wine, then it should certainly be avoided. Jesus drank real wine
because that has always been part of Jewish life. Strong drink
was recommended as a pain reliever for the dying. There are
many reasons one may be excluded from being raptured, but I
doubt this would be one of them. Muslim traditions are not
relevant to our faith or the Jewish faith.
