Joe, How do we accurately determine which ones are indeed "anointed", and conversely, which ones are only speaking on their own? Scripture has Elijah mocking the prophets of Baal, and Paul, while filled with the Holy Ghost, said some horrific things to Elymas the sorcerer. If someone speaks prophetically, they are either the LORD's prophet, or a false prophet. So, yes, I agree, that we should not mock one of the LORD's prophet, as you indicated. However, should we remain silent regarding the others? We cannot say that Christians never speak negatively about people directly - Paul did, and Jesus certainly did to the scribes and Pharisees, yet he never mocked, or tore into, the sinners that came to him or he came upon - it seemed only directed at the religious, in both testaments. So, if there are "self-anointed" prophecy teachers, why should they not be called on it? Why treat the true and the false equally alike, giving them all a place of honor and respect? Then I get back to my first question, how do we know for sure which ones are the LORD's? If we would, by their fruits, know them, how do we find the fruit in order to consider it? Is their fruit only in their writings? Is their fruit only in the effect it has on the readers? I ask, because I'm not sure, and your letter provoked me to consider this & to admit to myself that I don't know for sure, yet I don't want to put all the prophecy teachers in one basket, since perhaps not all are the LORD's anointed. Thank you, Gino
